I noticed that the Dublin taxi drivers page with Yellow logo on Facebook has 22000 likes.This is the old 8202020 page .So TAXY and LYNK are throwing one last roll of the dice against FREENOW. TAXY are charging 10% bit high on entry to the APP world in my opinion.NRC (NATIONAL RADIO CABS, HAVE JOINED WITH XPERT TAXIS).To take out the Germans they need strategy coming in with lower commission then 10%.The public want a service and efficient on apps.Being honest I couldn't afford to drop 10% to 15% drop to maintain my Taxi buisiness, as costs are to high, with fuel, insurance and repairs.THE MATHS DONT ADD UP. So lads You have a choice be a hunter and pay 0% or slowly be pushed off the road.This is not a ANTI, FREENOW or TAXY post its just facts.Pure greed and the TAXIDRIVER PAYS FOR IT .

Only chance you have is to hunt and to have credit card facilities.STATS are if you earn 45K in a taxi after all expenses and TAX you earn  between 22K and 24K ,less 10% to 15%.... GAMEOVER. If you get a breakdown,this will push drivers and YOU to the rental market again, which will suit Multiple plate holders such as LYNK and other dispatchers as they have lost the business in realtime.STATS say FREENOW has 68% of all dispatch jobs .This is Alarming.

I just about managed to keep my freight at €3/hour last week having got it down below €2.50/hr for the previous 2 weeks. The main difference last week was that I didn't start work 'till Thursday and I had most of my eggs in the Saturday basket.

Logically what is required is a drivers co-op with a fixed monthly charge. Consider what Netflix give you every month in terms of bandwidth, technology and expensive content as opposed to what a taxi app needs to give you. Alas, I don't see it as a realistic objective given the many divisions among drivers. To be fair to Free Now it has become clear that drivers have no problem paying 15% and will have no problem paying 20%, 25% and 33% when required. We will only see significant protest when regulation facilitates P2P rideshare or the re-issue of saloon hackney plates in significant numbers. By then taxis will be surplus to Free Now's requirements.

I need a dispatcher on the circuit I work. I wouldn't stop on the street for 64% of the clients I get from Free Now and I'd drive off a rank empty to avoid driving 38% of them.

Im not sure being to a dispatcher makes your journey any more safer considering some of the recent incidents

I reckon it's a lot safer, DM. It's not foolproof by any means but having some form of traceability is a bonus. A lot of the young lads look dodgy which doesn't necessarily mean they are but, on a street hail, you have to decide in an instant and I generally err on the side of caution. To be fair, the amateur pharmacists are Free Now's best customers, they don't want to draw attention to themselves or to dirty their bibs with a bad rating. Once you don't have cameras and afford them due discretion you'll get on their coveted favourite driver lists.

BTW, the last incident I heard of with Free Now was over a year ago. Some black kids done a runner and allegedly* stole a dashcam from a driver in West Dublin, Clonee I think.

*I say allegedly because another driver told me the camera wasn't stolen and suggested that it was reported as such so the Gardai might investigate. He claimed to know that as fact but I'm not sure, he had a few jars on him so may well have been speculating.

But Lynk has no connections to Taxy, except that a member of Lynk staff is now spearheading Taxy with Mark.
The page is quite antitaxi but so are a lot of the foreign drivers as they “need it to work”
