NCTS Update
« on: February 16, 2020, 12:04:59 pm »
Junk mail from NTA:

Dear Licence Holder,

The SPSV Information Line is experiencing extremely high levels of calls regarding potential delays in obtaining the NCT certificate required to licence an SPSV. We apologise for any disruption to your attempts to contact the SPSV Information Line for your day to day requirements.

All queries regarding the SPSV NCT should be directed to NCTS on 01 4135960 or info@NCTS.ie

Please also refer to the SPSV Latest News section of our website as all updates from NCTS will be posted there.

While these events are outside of the control of NTA, we are in regular communication with NCTS/Applus and RSA to ensure SPSV NCT bookings are prioritised. The temporary solutions appear to be working well for the majority of licence holders. The current wait time for the prioritised SPSV test is approximately 2 weeks.

SPSV operators are advised to make an NCT booking in good time to facilitate licensing their vehicles.

NCTS/Applus recommend that SPSV licence holders request an NCT booking in one of the centres that has an operational vehicle inspection lift (see below) and be prepared to travel if their test requirement is urgent. This may allow such licence holders to complete their full NCT test at the one centre with no need to return for the lift part of the test. However, there is no guarantee of this for every booking.

Where the lift test is required separately, the current wait time is 1 week. There is no need to present your vehicle at the same NCT centre for the lift part of the test; any suitable lift enabled centre may be used.

The current NCTS/Applus centres that can complete a vehicle lift inspection are:-

Athlone
Ballina
Ballinasloe
Cork (Little Island)
Deansgrange (South Dublin)
Enniscorthy
Fonthill, Dublin 22
Galway
Killarney
Letterkenny
Limerick
Northpoint, Swords, Co. Dublin
Skibbereen
Waterford

Yours faithfully,
National Transport Authority

Ballymun Northpoint only has working lifts in NP2.  NCT still booking taxis into NP1 and then transferring taxis over to NP2 when you turn up in person.  In NP2, you then go to the back of the queue.  Bring a packed lunch  ::fds

It seems Ballymun Northpoint has moved to Swords.

Nope, they still have to pass officially but they can be lenient on the inspection times.
