  • You don't want to do it like that
'LL, you'll probably be aware that Bat Soup etc is on the menu in a lot of Philippines households.

I visited the caves where the bats were netted on an Island called Boracay.

They eat all sorts of weird stuff. I don't touch meat when I leave Ireland and that includes a trip across the water....been that way since BSE outbreak. The range of veggie options now is fantastic anyway.

Forgot to say Tesco are pulling the plug in French Indo China, Silver....might be an idea if you're heading there to learn French (if you don't already) to decipher the ingredients on packets. Even the water in bottles is shite. All the prawns and shrimp produced there (for export) are grown in human excrement.

A vampire bat came flapping in from the night covered in fresh blood and parked himself on the roof of the cave to get some sleep.

Pretty soon all the other bats smelled the blood and began hassling him about where he got it.

He told them to go away and let him get some sleep but they persisted until finally he gave in.
“OK, follow me” he said and flew out of the cave with hundreds of bats behind him.

Down through the valley they went, across a river and into a forest full of trees.

Finally he slowed down and all the other bats excitedly milled around him.

“Now, do you see that tree over there?” he asked.

“Yes, Yes, Yes!” the bats all screamed in a frenzy.

“Good” said the bat, “Because I sure didn’t!”

Most of them don't eat bats, I'm told, and most prefer Espagnol to Tagalog. Rabbit stew with galangal is quite tasty.
