Im hearing rumors that Luas drivers are to hold a vote to withdraw service due to risk of infection from passengers .Company says that they must wait for government to make the decision as they are liable for a fine of 100k per day for every day the service does not run and if the drivers withdraw their service the company will go to the commercial court and go into voluntary insolvency .Meaning drivers lose their jobs and only get statutory redundancy .

Sure them fuks are isolated, they have zero contact with passengers.

If Free Now tell us to give discounts we have no choice, DM. They decide what we can charge and when, not us.
If it doesn't have a roof sign and door stickers it's not a taxi.

Nothing to discount as streets be dead.I wouldn't do Freenow, if it was my last crust i could earn, pure scum and destroyers of the taxi industry.Telling a self-employed person with a NTA set metered fare structure what they can earn outright ARs%holes.Hard enough out there without multinationals taking 15% of fares.BOBO the clown work.

Rat I honestly believe your trying to wind me up.SURELY you dont believe that a dispatcher calls the shots when it comes to charging ? If I,and thousands of taxi drivers worked WITH (not for ) a dispatcher and they told us what we can charge, and we said fukk off,do you still think tha dispatcher would be in business if he insisted in it ?  Not a chance ,but we would still be In business

There is an old saying ,and its very true.a union is only as strong as its members.this is also the point I am always trying to make to the rat as well.we,the drivers are stronger then dispatchers because of our numbers.but rat subscribes to the view that the tail should wag the dog.in fact every time he posts about dispatchers, and drivers ,he does so in the context of drivers being EMPLOYEES of these people.hence the reason he always uses the term WORK FOR

Im so confused about this bloody illness benefit payment.here is the questions im trying to get answers to,and nobody including the citizens info are very clear.firstly,I know you have to have a letter from a doctor,I understand that, but do you actually have to HAVE coronavirus,or if like me you are high risk and advised to self isolate do I qualify ?
Sounds you need a note from your GP or a hospital doctor.  Here's the official line.  Read both.

The Government has also stated that self-employed people will be able to get either Illness Benefit or Supplementary Welfare Allowance.

How to Apply
Step 1

If you are an employee or self employed and feel you may be suffering from Covid-19 or may need to self-isolate, you should contact your doctor by telephone.

If the doctor is satisfied that you have Covid-19 or that you should self-isolate, they will advise you accordingly.

The doctor will then complete a medical certificate on your behalf and send this directly to the Department of Employment Affairs and Social Protection.

To receive a payment, you will need to provide your doctor with your:

How do you pay the doctor ?

Rte report seems to support the social media report about the army being on standby and supporting the gardai from Monday. Student garda being sworn and deployed and instructors being sent out too. Senior gardai asked to delay retirement. Hiring 210 additional garda vehicles. New rosters from monday which includes duties at supermarkets, chemists and petrol stations. They are taking this seriously.  So traffic and public transport may be affected too.

The army are just there to make up the shortfall of cops. They won't be walking around with guns unless there are serious public order problems.

Who knows maybe the bus, luas and bin truck lads could go on strike so they might be able take up the slack.

Many army lads have bus and truck licences.During the petrol strikes in the 80s me oul fella had to drive the tankers with cop escorts.Thats one example but the army and cops can't go on strike. They'd be fukked in a cell for it.
