I didn't do a lot at Cheltenham this year and actually forgot about the Placepots.
I won a few quid playing 'Let it Ryde' on the in play tennis and soccer on Monday night and had a few Free EW Burglar bets on the 2nd Favs against the Hot-pots; Honeysuckle (Won). Altior (NR). Supreme John (Unplaced). Easysland (Won) to clear a profit of 445 on the week.

My theory on the placepots (which I have kept to myself fer many years) is that the best time to pick your selections is at about 5am or 6am in the morning. All the head compilers are at home asleep and only the spotty faced college student stand-in is looking after the odds by night and with strict instructions to shorten anything that money comes in fer, he does as he is told and this is shown as Odds Shortening on the Oddschecker page in Blue type.
These are the horses to get on, and also include the Fav to keep the Placepot bet rolling.
The head compilers will be in the office at about 7am or 8am and will start and post a fresh book and the Blue and Red type of odds drifting or shortening will disappear.

I've had a reasonable Cheltenham to date, despite a few fuck ups. Didn't bet Tues hence missed the erm's 16/1 tip. Had a tenner on a 5/1 winner on Wednesday and only read the special offer (free bet on next ITV race if you back a 4/1+ winner) after it was too late and I'd picked (but didn't back) the next winner at 6s... anywaysanall, lost two tenners after that. Got 3 up on a €1 yankee today (2/1, 10/3 and 9/2) and lost two tenners and a fiver on singles (would've won a few singles if the Bet365 site hadn't collapsed just before Min's race, stayed down until the last I think)... also lost sag£8 on a placepot (the hot fav in the 3:30 let me down) and stg£4 on the jackpot. All told, I put a score in my Bet365 account on Wed and I now have €124 to play with tomorrow.

It would seem you were the only one to drop a few quid this year Marky.
I had just 1 bet today and dropped a Score, couldn't resist BPG, 5 Places and money back 2nd or 3rd to the Fav. Still up 425 on the week.
Even my mate Korky who almost never gambles won about a Deuce with the help of a few Free new account bet offers.

See reply number 4 above, you can also do this at about mid-day but everyone is on to that.

Managed to lose my €124.xx balance yesterday as follow:
stg£8 Placepot
stg£4 Jackpot
€1 Yankee
3 x €20 singles
4 x €10.06 singles

Didn't have one single winner, still an enjoyable enough day out.

Anywaysanall, the gambling only cost me a score for the week... I've had worse Cheltenhams, far worse!
