When they take the Airport with fixed fares and they will .The arseholes who invited them in will have a lot to answer for .Some Rep bodies actually congratulated Free Now for their 50% off promotion .Same people who locked drivers out of the airport, going to be fun watching them trying to square that circle .As forcasted Free Now have workcapture they own the business .Some operators with their own client base will survive but 40% of drivers will leave this industry in 5 years and be replaced by profit share fleet owners like Free now you drive their car and share the takings until they go driverless .If I was under 40 I would get out of this game even go on the dole there is no future in it .

No Paul they wont stop using them .Free Now with Joes help lobbied for easier tests .WHY ? because they need licenced drivers to drive their vans on shift to carry THEIR customers THE ONES WE RECRUITED FOR THEM .Pity Roys site is GONE it contained all the data .Remember the original Review it said A1 WHEELIES but then the REPS ASKED help the lads who only have wheelie plates they cant afford to supply the A1 standard so the taxithingey obliged and we got breadvans instead .It is now as cheaper to enter the trade with a part worn Breadvan than it was with a Six and a bit Saloon licence and 9 year old banger .WHY because the REPS asked for it .From pre dereg to today this industry was ruined by Reps who lacked Vision ,Intelligence ,Guile ,Simple Politican nouce to know how to play the Game .Look at the result of the review after the Reps had a go at fixing the industry .We lost the value of our plates ,we got nine year rule ,we got cheapest entry ever into the industry ,we got Stickers and suitability we got shafted .

I dunno if the higher-spec wheelies were a great idea.They're not cheap at all.How would we get 40 grand loans if we struggle to get 25k loans for saloons.

The harder geography test was the only real barrier to entry that you couldn't get around by having a rich uncle or a pension from a previous employment.

Well there is a strong belief out there that the test is not a problem for the foreigners. Considering some of them cannot even speak English, you cannot dismiss this belief

I reduced my jobs with them after the 15% hike by turning it off during peak hours and when in the city centre.                                                             
Only really use it when in the sticks now.

I categorically will not do another job for them if it's fixed fares from now on.

  That was the point the cost would act as a barrier to entry .They got end of life on existing wheelies but the cunts still moaned and opened the floodgates .The clever operators got plates before the review they knew Saloon plates were going to be stopped Plata under the bed or scrap the van get a saloon buy a plate .

The test is simple its designed to be passed I told you about 30% of the answers appear in the questiond  Question 1 on what street is Dail Eireann .Question 18 how do you get from Dail Eireann on Merrion Street to the RDS .Question 70 How do you get from RDS  Merrion Road to Arus An uchtarain . and so on just answer the questions you know then come back to the othere with what you learned while donig the test .I got 100% on my Geography test it took me 9 minutes .When I put me hand up to show I was finished the gard thought I wanted to ask a question .When I did the Certified drivers test I got 98% got I question wrong that was on the boot capacity .

The 40k Wheelies only applied to new entrants or existing drivers renewing .It was the existing drivers renewing less than a few 100 who moaned and opened the floodgates .

I remember suggesting the mini wheelies as a solution because of they were available in the UK.It actually SOLVED the wheelchair shortage so that's one less thing for us all to think about.Some of the daft stuff being suggested ten years ago was all based on increasing the vehicle costs which only pushes newbies into rentals or cosying.

How the hell would any of us get 40k off the banks in the current climate.The job would have been only accessible to pensioners/redundancy blokes and those with no kids/mortgage.Bit short sighted IMO.

By keeping the test tougher lads have to put a bit of work in.When I say tougher I mean a pass rate back to 80% where it was.Anyway the damage is done.This is all old ground.

Read the payback tread Merc we are going to be hit with a 1930s style recession .Your coffee shops restaurants dial a dish kips are all going to stay closed bus or bike will be the prefered mode of affordable transport Taxi will be a luxury as I said earlier 40% of owner drivers or renters will dissappear .Free now or Vinni will control most of the business with rideshare in rural Ireland .I wonder how many people will want to drive a taxi when it all goes cashless with every transaction recorded for revenue purposes .We have 5 years at best as independent operators anybody under 40 should be looking to get out .After costs its a minimum wage job at best .
