Oh I don't think that would be popular with the tax payers rat

It could be sold given that Govt has proved it can be trusted to look after us. It needn't necessarily concentrate on PAYE workers. In fact, bringing self-employed into the tax net could be popular with the PAYE sector. Most will probably go without a holiday this year and many will discover what a great environment we have on our doorsteps so taxing air miles mightn't seem like such a bad idea, particularly as it could discourage diseased foreigners from visiting. We need to look at a whole new lifestyle with community, the environment and quality of life front and centre... the best things in life are free, for everything else there's taxation?
If it doesn't have a roof sign and door stickers it's not a taxi.

I mean we're too heavily reliant on the PAYE sector. I've breezed through life paying fuck all, for example. In fact I asked one of the election canvassers why my Polish neighbours - living 2 families to a rented gaff - should have to pay for my water... they went away agreeing that they shouldn't, I think. I was being a little economical with the truth, to be honest, as I didn't mention that Mrs. Catcher is a PAYE worker but they got the point.

That's what community is about... communal responsibility... that's what Govt ought to be selling as the "new normal". State of the art healthcare for all should be the first objective.

You'd have admire all the taxi drivers forced to work, spreading the virus thus creating mountains of overtime for health workers and Solicitors, oh, and crematoria.
We salute you!

To be fair, Vinny Kearns is the only man I heard on the wireless advocating COVID '19 dole for taximen / taxi drivers... hardly encouraging anyone too work, DM. In fact the erm posted an article within which Vinny shamelessly sensationalised Mick the moan's passing to encourage drivers not to work.

I'll have to agree there, Vinny Kearns does have a face for radio.

Christmas pints may be cancelled after business groups were told in a conference call with Tánaiste Leo Varadkar last night that it is "unlikely" pubs will reopen this year.

Around 10 different business groups - including four of those in the hospitality sector - were told that when the latest lockdown is lifted, the country will more than likely be on level 3 of the Government's Living with Covid plan.

This would mean pubs and restaurants will only be allowed to accommodate outdoor dining for up to 15 people.

A source in the hospitality sector said Mr Varadkar was very "straight up" and "didn't sugar coat it".

They'll not open in the New year when the numbers sky rocket after auld Lang syne. It's gonna be cyclical until they find a vaccine. That works.
