'The favour is returned'.

'The favour is returned': 173 years on, Irish donors thank Native Americans.

The organisers of a fundraising campaign for Native Americans hit by the coronavirus have thanked Irish donors for their support.

People from Ireland have been sending money through a 'GoFundMe' page set up to help Navajo and Hopi families, with many of the Irish donors saying it was a way of saying thank you for the support shown to Ireland during the Great Famine.

In 1847, the Choctaw Native American people sent $170 of relief aid to Ireland, the equivalent of around $5,000 today.

Personally I seldom to never donate to 'Charities' because I reckon that the Lions share of any donation is taken by the administration staff with many CEO's of big charity groups on half a million per year salaries.

But this to me seems a very worthy cause and a time to 'Return the favour' !

I had a number of direct debits set up years ago for veruous charities, but I stopped them all when it came to light the kind of money their CEOS were on . I think it all started with that cunt Angela Kerrins who would not reveal what she was being paid

Ethel Branch, Fund Organizer;

Hi folks! My apologies on a delayed update! My last update was 11 days ago, and I reported then that we had broken the $1 million fundraising mark. Well we have now broken the $2 million mark, in good part due to a beautiful act of solidarity from our friends in Ireland, who remember the kindness shown to them by our Choctaw brothers and sisters, who sent them aid during the great potato famine in 1847. Thank you so much, Ireland!!!

ALL these causes are worthy, but when the CEO takes an avarage industrial wage, then that is when I will consider donating again

I never understood why CEO's of charity organisations take....or are given such large salaries with bonuses and expenses(what exactly do they bring to the table?) given that volunteers give so much of their time to fill the coffers.

CHARITIES .Dail passes a budget says it will donate 50 million .They dont want the bother so they give the coin to Goal or Oxfam and say here you go distribute that .So they set up a private company register it as a charity for tax purposes get a Top man or woman to run it pay them top dollar and off they go .All the government want to see is a balancing statement that shows the present state of the accounts not where the money went just that it went .Then they wave around the reciept at some UN dinner Dance or wine and cheese party for all the governments who gave coin to the poor .

I gotta agree with all the above, to be fair to 'Sir' Bob, he refused to take any wage fer either his 'Band aid' or 'Live aid' work.

In my opinion 'Charity' administration staff should be on a basic wage with the CEO getting a tad more, BUT NOT HALF A MILLION A YEAR !!
