The historic Bewley’s cafe on Grafton Street is to close permanently with the loss of 110 jobs. Staff were informed of the decision by the operator of the cafe, Bewley’s Ltd, which is owned by artist Paddy Campbell.

The closure has been blamed on the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the economy, which has been in lockdown since March, and the €1.5 million annual rental cost on the protected structure.

Debenhams gone as well .Our kids mate works for Vue the Cinema Chain and she thinks they wont reopen .Also heard Pennys are offering redundancy to some long term workers they want to remove them from their pension scheme ,new entrants are not in the scheme .

Carroll catering took it over then with the crash the rent over 2 million a year forced a court case over the rent upward rents only scheme .It closed for a while then reopened .Its a listed building so cant be fucked about with .Cant see to many willing to pay three and change for a cup of tea or coffee for the next few years .

That's it ...it folded after the financial crisis ....cause the rents wer tru the roof or somethin ...mad ....used to be like going back in time...the waitresses had kinda Victorian unoforms on them kinda kinky they wer .......I remember bein in ther more than a cople times gettin a fry wit sum yungone next mornin after meetin her in howl at the moon or sum place an that's wer ya said goodbye an took her phone number ....but ya never rang .....she went back to nursing an ya went back to doin brake linings on the buses an yu taut bout her for cople days ....then did it all again next weekend an forgot all bout her ....broke on Monday mornin ...paid the land lady Friday 50 quid ....taut yu be yung forever an didnt look ahead.......
