Got an email from sum up today to say that my card terminal has been deactivated ane I can only use the mobile payment. Anybody else get this and if so what's it about.

They've deactivated the "Virtual Terminal" not your card reader, that was the method used for remote payments, no longer necessary with the new mobile payments option

Dear,

We’d like to inform you that as of 13.05.2020 your use of Virtual Terminal has been deactivated. But don’t worry, we’ve activated your account for Mobile Payments, so you can continue accepting card not present transactions.

What is Mobile Payments?

Accept payments from customers wherever they are by sending them a payment link.
Charge customers for orders or bookings placed remotely
Send your payment links via email, SMS, WhatsApp or any other messaging platform.
All for a fee of 2.75% per transaction when completed with the Mobile Payments product.
Please note, the Mobile Payments fee is lower than the Virtual Terminal fee.

How do I get started?

Open or download the SumUp App.
Enter an amount and click "Charge.”
Select “Mobile Payments.”
Share the link via WhatsApp, Facebook, Email or SMS.
