Driving tests

There will be no early reopening of driving test centres, according to Minister for Transport Shane Ross.

He told RTÉ's This Week programme that to carry out driving tests would be "a straight breach of social distancing guidelines".

Yet we can drive around picking people up in a taxi.

Well Mr Ross if that's the case then all Saloon type Taxis are also in "breach of social distancing guidelines".

WTF is going on , does the left hand know what the right hand is doing ?

Dolly Muddyman from the flats was arrested for robbing two bottles of wine and a few sausages from the Spar Shop .Garda threw her in the back of the car and brought her to Kilmainhan .no social distancing there .Big Dommos youngfellas youngfellas youngfella is a Fireman he shares the Fire truck with the rest of the crew .Social Distancing is best practice where it can be applied .How would a nurse or a Doctor Social Distance in work ?

You will also find that at times where the 2 metre rule cannot be applied such as check outs or counters, then sneeze guards are used

Gardai have been instructed to wear makes where the work from home aspect of social distancing and the physical distancing aspect of social distancing can't be observed. An NTA or DOT woman on the wireless today said there's no evidence to suggest screens reduce risk.
If it doesn't have a roof sign and door stickers it's not a taxi.

I posted elsewhere but the only ones doing well out of this are the tradesmen charging big money for a bit of plastic drilled into the ceiling on yer local Centra/Spar.

When the shops put these in they were having big problems retaining staff who were packing in their jobs to get the covid 350 as it was more than they were getting for going to work.

Same goes for Freenow they got a discount on an overpriced piece of plastic to convince a load of dumbass taxi drivers that they'd be safer to hit the roads and give them 15% of their earnings.Loads fell for it and then they started coming on here and trying to make it sound like a competitive advantage if they're on a rank so they get away first.Dangerous cunts.

Unfortunately its all about perception.if the public perceive it to be safer to sit in a taxi which has a screen fitted, then thats the one they will go for.F/N and Ebbs, come out of it looking like they actually give a shit about passengers, and drivers

I know it's perception but they're not all stupid either. Most will avoid taxis unless they absolutely have to use them.

I've wondered about this, will Taxis generally be perceived as safe(r) or worse than the other public transport alternatives?
Could go either way depending on the narrative, we're depending on our spokespeople and journalists to speak favourably regarding the benefits of using taxis, rather than the negatives, it would be nice if we Taxi drivers did ourselves a favour in this regard but generally we're as thick as two planks and will do our level best to put people off.

Disease spreaders anyone?

It's gonna be difficult to get some people into a confined space that ten other unknown strangers have been in recently.

It's an age thing too.Anyone under 30 doesn't seem to care a whole lot but the older folks with much older parents are making space space on the footpaths and in the local supermarkets.Funerals are expensive!.

You can only sit on certain seats on buses now..are the drivers wiping down the rails and seats everytime a passenger exits?.....are they fuk!!

Could be a job there.....person in full PPE gear cleaning seats and rails for the whole day!!....hmmm

It still is amazing that Ross permits taxis to operate, but not driving testers.are taxi drivers less important then driving testers ?
