Does force majeure leave offer any relief to SPSV's in the current Covid-19 ? I was wondering watching DUBLIN BUS and GO AHEAD also IRISH RAIL and LUAS driving on empty mostly where you can see YELLOW COVID 19 POSTERS ON THE SEATS. THEY ALL GET REFURBISH FROM A STATE ARE THEY???

Nobody tells me that i couldn't drive? Free money? There is no tourists coming to the country, people are being taken hostage , we be told to take down discs, reduce insurance! Y. 350 € isn't free its mine and yours. What about other charges like your bin charge's, gas, electricity, broadband would that cover all?, What about your mortgage or rent . Remember  1% levy tax? After recession hit Ireland then all that charges pile up on people payslips. Where are we now? And you worry about some plastic screens. You are unemployed be a decision of a State Administration.

If you cant make wages in the taxi get a different job .Again nobody told you you couldnt drive your taxi .Nobody told you to reduce Insurance that was your decision but If you do not have taxi insurance you are not entitled to display the Discs .I dont see any problem .It was your decision not to work .

That's true John if you can't make a wages you should look for a new job. Same time decision wasnt made by you or me. And you can't just leave with nothing. Would you call this Force Majeure ?

NO its an economic downturn .As an Independent Business owner it is up to us if we continue or liquidate our asserts .Thats unfortunately the real world .A lot of other businesses will not reopen but new ones will open up .Home deliveries seem to be booming as people shop on line for example .

Ok here is what im thinking .I need to reactivate and do the suitability as mine is out of date .I will renew my licence then suspend it for 11 months then reactivate it pass suitability then suspend it again and keep doing this for years if necessary until I decide to use it or lose it .Nowhere in legislation does it say you must actively employ the licence just that it lapses if you do not RENEW it for a period of over a year .Think about it by doing this you can keep both taxi licence and taxi insurance live but inactive for as long as you like .
