As far as I can see there's no further information about this grant. ie the procedure for claiming, do you need to send in receipts or just hold on to them in case you're asked to produce them?
I wonder how strict they will be regarding the type of restart expenses they will fork out for.... I can't imagine they're assigning people to trawl through every application to make sure nobody is claiming for a biro that they're not entitled to!
I know you have to be off the 350 to qualify, but does that mean you have to actively sign off it before it drys up or can you still qualify once the pup comes to a natural end and you restart work by default?
I'm very keen to know how long I'll have to wait for my reimbursement as a grand out of my pocket right now is extremely painful and I'd like to think I'd have it back within 2 weeks and not 2 months.
I'm sure it's running away in the background, but it would be nice to be updated about these things now and then

The grant is up to €1000.If you haven't got receipts for your claim you'd be taking a gamble and might getting nothing.

Only spend what you need to get back on the road,that way you're not really losing anything.You would have had to spend that money anyway.

It's quite confusing, knob. On one hand it lists an array of normal business expenses and then it says normal business expenses aren't covered. When you figure out what's covered (if in doubt, claim - paper never refused ink) you get 80% of vouched expenditure back so probably worth asking for inflated receipts when spending.

Rate of Payment

Funding will be awarded for 80% of eligible costs up to a maximum of €1,000.

Grants will be awarded on costs related to reopening your business, including:

safety measures
business advice or mentoring
repairs
fuel
wages
Invoices must be submitted with application.

Normal business costs are not included.

Apply

The Department will provide information on how to access the grant over the coming weeks.

Presumably wages would have to be subject to PAYE and not the subject of a wage subsidy scheme claim... but, who knows? A new timing belt would surely qualify as repairs... I hope. I'm thinking of getting mine done and hopefully getting a receipt for the better part of the max €1,250 qualifying expenditure.

Max claim is €1,000 so @ 80% max expenditure is €1,250.

Don't be sceptical. Costs related to reopening your business obviously correlate to the pandemic as your business wouldn't have been closed otherwise.

Don't jump in too quick. I'd imagine some of the unions will come up with mentoring packages. They could charge €1,250 for a couple of hours i guess and maybe give out €1,000 vouchers to members or something like that.

To be fair, the taxi trade is traditionally a very poor contributor to the exchequer. I've probably got more back in puppy dole than I've paid in income tax / PRSI since I started driving a cab in the 90s.

There was a bit of a clue when the consultants doing the report for Ms. Doyle's review decided to survey drivers rather than ask Revenue to ascertain what drivers earn. I guess TDFC going to Revenue to tell them the trade is robbing the State blind was another hint...
