A chara,

I hope this message finds you well in the current challenging circumstances.

I am very much aware of the difficult situation facing you and your fellow taxi drivers as you return to work, following relaxation of COVID 19 restrictions.

Sinn Féin fully recognise the essential role that taxi drivers play in the transport network and are fully committed to pressing the Government to provide vital support and assistance to the industry in any Stimulus package.

Should you be experiencing any issues in relation to returning to work, or are concerned about protection/social distance requirements, you may contact the National Transport Authority who will be able to assist you

https://www.nationaltransport.ie/

I have also included links to statements on the issue by our Transport Spokesperson Darren O’Rourke TD, for further information.

As always, should you have any other issues, please don’t hesitate to contact me

Genuine question, what was the point in you contacting him (or any TD for that matters) all he did was to tell you to contact the NTA.
We all know that they are f@*king useless and impossible to get through to.
Waste of time contacting him

To be fair NTA have been quite good to us facilitating suspensions and such like. Their staff even rang me from their own homes a couple of times to see if I wanted new stickers or to continue my plate suspension... although they didn't ring last month, not sure why but they sent an email with a reply required to continue the suspension.

The Shinners taxi policy is laughable. They wanted to replace Garda vetting with a private regime similar to that used by the PSA which allows all immigrants sign a declaration where their history is unverifiable... and they wanted to sack white Irish men on foot of convictions handed down by the British judiciary, the same judiciary that convicted the Birmingham Six and the Guilford Four... the African immigrant vote is all they're after. I wouldn't piss on them if they were on fire!

Yeah, they rang me to confirm the initial suspension and rang twice thereafter to see if I was taking another month off or if I needed stickers or any other help/advice. They didn't ring last month though, just sent me an email.

Their email is taxis@nationaltransport.ie

only thing I can think of is ,a few weeks ago ,a shinner TD was hosting a question and answer session, and I wanted to ask why it was not ok for driving testers to work, but it was ok for taxis to work.did they consider our lives. To be less important.I assume my email address was passed on by one of his colleagues
