Heard him on Today With your one that replaced Sean O'Rourke fighting our case yet again. Fair play. I hope ewes show your appreciation for the efforts of Solidarity People Before Profit at election time.
If it doesn't have a roof sign and door stickers it's not a taxi.

Lives in Shankhill ,nice guy ,wouldn't agree with his politics, but at least he is a voice for the about to be downtrodden -US-the taxi industry--since we cant see fit to create a "gust of wind "for ourselves --what an embarrassment we are as an industry  ---bitch on here daily ,slag anybody and everybody, yet unwilling to stand up for our business, not an e-mail,tweet.or any class of an intelligent comment in the media ,little wonder the Government and the Public dont give a fiddlers about the industry--proof of that will be in the July Stimulus Package to be announced when we are ignored--and as ever the Keyboard Warriors who occupy this space will react by doing the usual SWA--
THE TAXI INDUSTRY IS AN EMBARRASSMENT !

Bit of luck I will be able to retire next year--its a business that was very good to me when I needed it,. 26 years and counting--got my Kids reared/settled and paid all the Legal Fees for Family Law disputes !

Any of you in your 30/40s on here, look for a change in Profession as your current one is doomed and its all self inflicted !

Genuinely good advice there Punter, i would add even those in the 50s. Problem is most of us are unemployable or cannot stand being employed!

And therin lies the problem,i'm headin for 56,i've been self employed for nearly all my working life,i couldn't take orders from someone(probably younger)at this stage in my life, even if i do get some other form of employment i won't be letting my taxi go....in case i tell whoever employs me to shove it up their hole!!

I don't think there are that many opportunities other than driving a van for a bloke with taxi driving as experience.

Why would an employer take one of us on when a 20-year-old will work harder for less money and moan less.

I don't understand why yis think us younger lads(I'm 43) are more prone to being in trouble. We can do the hours if we have to.Taxi industry is in a much better place than ten or twenty years ago.

In times of need which was nearly permanent in late 90 and early 00s,working 50/60 hours a week and cleared in excess of 2k with no tails on it--great to know the industry is so much better NOW !
