Extension of Pandemic Unemployment Payment--Gov.ie
The Pandemic Unemployment Payment, due to end in August 2020, is being extended by 7 months until 1 April 2021, giving those on emergency income support greater security as the country recovers and job opportunities return.

The Pandemic Unemployment Payment and Temporary Wage Subsidy Scheme have played a huge role in sustaining household incomes through the worst of the crisis.

Between now and April, there will be a gradual reduction in payment level, linked to previous incomes, bringing payments in line with existing social welfare levels over time.

The scheme will close to new claimants from Thursday 17 September 2020.

Clarity on working and Claiming the PUP .YOU CANNOT WORK AND CLAIM THE PUP IF YOU ARE SELF EMPLOYED .I had tea and toast with a TD this afternoon and got clarification .The anomaly in the legislation or what some perceive as an anomaly .Where it said if your income was substantially effected was referring to the condition that was applicable for qualifying for the payment and not a a loophole .The final box you were asked to tick said you have no income from self employment .That is the Qualifying criteria YOU HAVE NO INCOME FROM SELF EMPLOYMENT .

In my own opinion to take credence from somebody because he is a TD is a bit naive,me I will cite time and date from the Ministers interview on PK if I am taking to task for working which I dont expect --work,if thats what you call it --tenner off street in two weeks-out from 5am---some days 2/3 jobs of FN,have had days with 1 and thats for 5 hours effort daily --working 7 days---only reason I am out is because I dont sleep past 4.30am--t/o pays for car /insurance and most Xs but not viable for anybody hoping to make a decent wage --thats the reality of situation -- --mask or no mask --screen or no screen --make your own decision--there is FA all work without decals !

My trading income has collapsed but I'm still plodding away. It's fucking dead during the week and there's only a bitta action at the weekend past midnight.

I asked and quoted that but I was told .That was to Qualify meaning if your income had collapsed you could APPLY and Qualify .You are getting paid as you are still deemed to be self employed (You do not need to de-register as self-employed to get a payment.)Under Normal circumstance if you were Self Employed you would have to Cease trading to qualify for welfare but this way you would be ready to take up self employment or other employment when the economy restarted ..


I asked because I was going to go back to work .The PUP is UNEMPLOYMENT payment Not Job Subsidy .

The ambiguity of Income Collapse then the follow up qualification of being available to take up other employment could be interpreted that as long as you would not refuse any other work if offered ,you can subsidize your PUP with your meager earnings from your trade or profession .
Can you please clarify the Position .Can you claim the PUP and continue to trade until your business has returned to pre Covid conditions .

So at least 2 posters on here are fraudulently accepting the payment whilst working, extrapolate that out and it'd be a fair percentage of drivers, welfare should be setting up checkpoints to catch these cheats

I know someone who works in a different industry. he was claiming the 350 but still working. Revenue were watching him. he lost the 350 and got a 1,000 euro fine.
