Two people die after car enters water in west Cork

Two men have died after a car they were travelling in entered water near Glengarriff in west Cork early this morning.

A third occupant of the car was airlifted to Cork University Hospital with serious injuries while a fourth man was uninjured.

Emergency services were called to the scene on the Kenmare Road at 5.30am this morning.

A man in his 40s and a male in his late teens were pronounced dead at the scene.

The road is closed and local diversions are in place.

The services of the Forensic Collision Investigators have been requested.

GardaĆ­ in Bantry are appealing for any witnesses to contact them and are also appealing for any road users who may have dash cam footage.
