There was a time when taxis were waved on and never stopped at a checkpoint. Now all vehicles are stopped.

Was breathalyzed twice myself over the years,both times were in the afternoon.

Got breathalyzed 3 times in about an hour in Rathmines one night.I complained but they would not listen....( Not fake news)

When it was normal .Sunday morning to avoid the holy hour later drive up to Bridget Burks,Embankment ,or any other pub outside the City limit that did not have to close for the holy hour .Get there for 12.30 opening time shull porter until about 7 oc then drive back to Ballyer for Sonny Knowles or Joe Dolan in the local pubs .Drive home from Burks ,driver two lads sitting in the front three with their birds on their lap in the back and if someone was really stuck for a lift he could get in the boot .Then more Porter until closing time and get a lift home from the driver who had at least a dozen and a half pints for his day and a few Paddy and Reds .

I wonder how many Coach drivers take a few pints while they wait for return trips from games or concerts ?When I was a Kid bus drivers done split shifts they would go to the Batchelors inn or the Oval for a few pints between shifts and the conductors went to the bookies .21 bus to Ring Street driver often ran down to Slatterys for a piss and a pint .

Campions in Balgriffin,Boot Inn at the back of Airport,often more Taxis parked outside than on the Hide rank--good old Bona Fide  !

BTW anybody that is still able to drink a feed of Pints should invest in a decent Breathalyzer in Halfords--bought one years ago --software gets upgraded every year--best thing I ever bought !

Go and get a cylinder of Gas for the Super Ser and bring it home on the bus .I remember bringing a chair down to me Grannys from Ring Street to Tyrconnell Road and when the bus stopped at the stops to let people on I had to lift the chair off and people actually appologising to me .

Saturdays ranks of taxis parked in the carpark to the rear and lads watching Ponies and Soccer and playing pool swamping porter .If you won you drank on if you lost you drove on to work .Fucking ridicilous carry on .
