« on: August 09, 2020, 02:38:22 pm »
I would like your opinion on this.im up for suitability on tuesday morning.the decal on the passanger door has a rim of dirt formed around it.it is not something you can just wipe because im afraid if I use I might rub of some of the lettering,or lighten the colour.have any of you had this problem ?

I think it's the laminated layer that's peeling off allowing the dirt under the edge.I used a blade to cut the peeled bit off and it allowed me to clean the dirt off.It passed last time but it's only a temporary fix that will probably need new stickers.Really depends on the tester.

Yeah......i used some WD40,it does lighten it a bit....but if they fail it cos the border of the door decal is slightly lighter in colour then the NTA have reached a new level of cuntiness...if that's even possible!!

The dirt is on the outside rather then under the laminate, but im afraid to start rubbing it.I dont know if they would fail me on it

throw a two liter bottle of water over the car a minute before you go in.
I do it to disguise some dings and scratches.
I do it under the guise of washing bird gick off or you could say you were stuck behind a bin laden's car in traffic belching smoke all over your pristine motor.
they are'nt examining cars thoroughly at the moment.
they're lashing them through an account of the scaldy backlog.

I think it depends on the tester.  My decal has a rip held together with cellotape!  He passed the taxi but said it'd fail the next time.  Maybe they log it?  Happened before with a ripped seat as well.

Any sticker I've ever known to fail was because they were coming away from the door.

Have to say its beyond me how some MEMBERS of the industry who can be so knowledgeable of the standards required yet fail miserably when it comes to their own levels of compliance --signage akin to an "only fools and horses Trabant"  but such are the Standards of the Righteous !

In order to break the rules, one must know what the rules are, otherwise it's just ignorance.

Ah Dalymount you may wish to be The Righteous  but regrettably there are others among us who breathe Fire and Brimstone when it come to the operation of the Trade I have been in for nigh on 30 years--yet when it come their own standards re the signage on their own motors --Trotters Trabant on Fools and Horses comes to mind--perhaps if there were no Discounts in their way of life they could afford proper signage !
Then again what would I know --trying to work while on the PUP--totally illegal eh--yet nobody on here came up with proof that it was not permitted and then when it emerged that the Entertainment Industry could work sporadically and claim aka Minister last week --Silence from all quarters !
But then again what would I know according to  The Righteous ,I am probably lying or stupid --of which I am neither--but at least the signage on my motor is acceptable to the normal Punters--must try hustling around Dublin 4 as I am sure they would appreciate proper standards ,maybe even pay a Premium !

As for any input I have had here over the years--it was always in the best interest of the Members here ,mostly it has been taken in that light but I have had my critics which I accept as contrasting views but when it comes to abuse by The Righteous I will not accept or tolerate !
