Driving around Dublin you can see that the cycling infrastructure has been much improved, new lanes and new concrete separators, and some parking moved out centrally as a protection, all good stuff, some widening of pavements to allow for bus Q's, the council has been busy on the quiet roads during the pandemic, kudos applied

The puppy dole has kept me from driving around Dublin. A lot done, more to do?

Are the rickshaws better organised under the new regulations?
Are electric scooters available?
Is there a Go Car (type) scheme that facilitates point to point journeys?
Have the Metro plans been amended to facilitate cycle lanes in the covered/underground sections?

Nphet warn Government that full lockdown may be required

Public health experts have privately warned the Government that a return to a full national lockdown may be necessary if the number of Covid-19 infections continues to rise.  However, senior Government figures are understood to be reluctant to consider the idea of another full lockdown.  Senior sources told The Irish Times that the possibility of another full lockdown came up during informal discussions in the last few days.  Government figures cited social and economic reasons as to why another lockdown could not happen.

The National Public Health Emergency Team (Nphet) did not recommend a full lockdown in its advice to Government on Monday.  However, senior sources told The Irish Times that the question of a full lockdown will resurface if the number of new cases continues to increase.  “NPHET are certainly making it clear that if this [the measures announced earlier this week] doesn’t work, it’s back to lockdown,” said a source close to Government.

Not many pedestrians seriously injured in collisions with bicycles, erm. However, a "walking bus" scheme was being trialled by Fingal Co Co before the pandemic. That's certainly something that needs to be rolled out with greater urgency than ever. In rural areas kids living outside of a 3 kilo radius of the school should have assembly points 3-4 kilos away from the gate.
