Back to hogan and the holding the phone scandal, i dont known what he drives but modern technology going back a decade at least hands free system is standard in basic models even Dacias have it so theres no excuse to be holding a phone when jibbing, even my 4 year old superb allows me to connect two phones at the same time via the Bluetooth.

Yes that beats the hell out of me. I've always wondered why these guys that drive moder'n cars drive round with the phone wedged between their ear and shoulder. And many a taxi man is guilty of same which is even more stupid considering their licence is their lifeblood.

Looking back, Calleary, either by listening to someone's good advice, or fluke, got it right.
Come out good and early, hands up and white flag waving, say you're weally weally sowwy and slink off into the background for a while until all is forgiven and another nice little gig comes along. And you never know, some even bigger bollox might fall out of Pandora's box and take any remaining focus completely away from you.
