Taxi Licence suspension
« on: August 27, 2020, 12:33:14 pm »
Can anyone tell me why the NTA will only allow us to suspend our licence for three months? Was this part of their rules pre Covid lockdown or was it brought in at the beginning of the lockdown to assist drivers.

"IF" it was brought in just for Covid reasons then why then did they take it upon themselves to limit it only to 3 months ? It's still out there as we all know.

Having the suspension lifted has the effect of having to revert back to "taxi " insurance from the 3 months of domestic insurance.

Despite the lifting of the suspension,I am still not back working as a taxi, yet paying taxi insurance.

Thanks

You didnt have to reactivate your Taxi licence until you were ready within one year ,but you would of needed a new NCT and Suitability That might of been cheaper .You can also reduce your taxi insurance to private again if your not working the taxi .And your car will be a legally licenced taxi but not active .The Judge in the High Court stated that a licenced taxi does not have to work .So there is no legal requirement on a Licenced taxi to provide a service to maintain the licence just remove the roofie and remove your self from the app.

If you go past 3 month suspension is the Penalty still removed or do you have to pony up to plate up >Penelty is late renewal fee.

The reason I asked was becuse I got a mail from the NTA few weeks back telling me that the 3 months suspension was up. Thats my question,is this suspension pre covid or introduced for Covid lockdown?
Does that mean everyone is off the 3 mth suspension too ?
As it happened I had my NCT and Suitability 2 weeks ago and obviously needed to ensure my insurance was back as taxi to pass.
When you say "reactivate" are you talking about the link/app ? I hvnt linked back in yet.
With regard to the Insurance, when I initially got domestic insurance, the insurance company told me i must advise the NTA who in turn will suspend the licence.
So how can I do that again, if the NTA will only do it for 3 mths?

Why would YOU inform anybody about your private business .If the Insurance say the Taxithingey should know let them tell them .The 3 month suspension was a curtacy by the NTA to allow drivers a bit of time to see how the land lays .They also suspended the late renewal fee for three months .

John is quite right.my insurance company told me at the time under no circumstances would they be informing the NTA ,they said it would breach DATA legislation, and it was not their place to inform the NTA anyway.I also know a lot of drivers who NEVER informed  the NTA at all ,and have since restored their cover ,and done NCT ,and suitability, tests, without any problems whatsoever

Because thats what they requested and then we (some) returned our green window daisies. You know yourself failure to adhere to anything the NTA TELL you to do usually or can result in some sort of sanction, be it now or later.
