What happens to the lads with 15-year-old taxis will they get a two-year extension also?

My own thinking is there will be extensions on licenses anyway whether or not these muppets get involved in protests.

There is a 9 year LAW as in LAW minister is not going to change that ,Why would he ?He wants dirty diesels off the road .

I spoke with my local TD and he said when the SI No 175 of 2020 was passed it gives the minister the power to extend it at his discretion, unfortunately Ryan being the fuk in charge....could be a big stumbling block.

Maybe they'll just allow the hybrid vehicles another few years because of their perceived greeness. The mini wats already have a 15 year rule so they should be ok.

The most important thing about this is not the content, but the fact that for once unity has come about with a joint statement from all 4 rep bodies.inmy virw that is more important then anything else, and it is the one thing the authorities were afraid of their shite would ever happen.

Unity in the taxi business  ???  rofl
It's all come about because ryan got the transport job .....thers a reason he was given that job .......and those that put him ther will try and make as much change as quickly as possible before the whole shithouse collapses and thers another election .....
Those that put him ther are anti taxi , they all riding bikes to the government buildings an taxis takin up ther cycle lanes ( bus lanes )....
Unfortunately its happened rite in the middle of this chinese caused flu and they wont giv 2 hoots about taxi drivers livelihoods .....but ide say thrrll be carnage ....taxis are the enemy and expendable and an obstacle of progress and damaging the planet an giving everyone cancer and they are sitting ducks .....
Calls for taking us out of bus lanes is only the start ....
The next move will be to attempt  ban on city centre again before Christmas and then calls to ban diesels ......
Yur only hope is if yu drive a leaf .....
Tink I'll retire to the  West with the owlone next door an buy a direct provision centre for ex taxi drivers .....
Poor knuts

They can do whatever they like.My hybrid heap is burning oil as it's still probably cleaner than any diesel built in the last ten years.Just so you know.

I've seen a few gaymobiles spewing black smoke, didn't look at all environmental
Half of these shit heaps have some of the battery packs bypassed and are in dire need of a proper service, not some side of the road oil change

Roy you may be confusing water vapour from the exhaust with smoke. It's nearly impossible to make a Prius do what a diesel does. It's just a low revving petrol engine on an atkinson cycle and a small battery pack with a powerful leccy motor. No magic involved.

There's nothing Toyota can do for my car that I can't do myself.Oil change is the same as any other engine. No special equipment.Small petrols are relatively clean.

You can't bypass the battery on them either.

A ban on diesels into Dublin city centre wud be the  next logical move from the cycling brigade councillors and eamon  the vegetable .......and fair play to them .....
I tink there a few cities in Europe already banned diesels....strange as wasnt ireland first to ban smoking in pubs ?   Wud seem that wer long overdue .....if I had a diesel ide be clenching me anus ....
https://www.theguardian.com/business/2018/dec/13/eu-relaxation-of-diesel-emission-limits-was-illegal-court-rules

Wasnt  ireland first to have gay marriage up the bum sex   aswell as first to have smoking in pubs ban O0 ?
Jeeze ....I must get me ma to read the tarrots cards an find out ...but ide say its weeks away the way tings are goin wit eamon the cabbage an his mates at the helm

Wondering what is a position of all unions regardless TRANSFERABILITY INTRODUCTION a specially for those who wish exit an industry. Can't be that you will leave with nothing !

Press release on behalf of Taxi representative groups

National Private Hire & Taxi Association, (NPHTA)

Irish Taxi Drivers Federation (ITDF)

Taxi Alliance of Ireland, (TAI)

Tiomanai Tacsai na hEireann, (TTNH)

Taxi Drivers will protest on September15th 2020.

Taxi drivers have been over looked during this pandemic and will take to the streets to highlight the following issues:

1 A requirement to provide a Financial package to help drivers get back to work.

This should include a Temporary  weekly subsidy similar to wage subsidy given to employees.Grants to assist in fixed costs estimated by National Transport Authority  at €11,433 P/A  and increased costs due to pandemic.

Licence renewals should be issued free of charge and interest free loans should be made available.

2 The retention and continued access to bus lanes and access to Quality Bus Corridors (QBC) is vitally important for drivers. business people do not want to sit in traffic. Dublin city council's lack of engagement with representative bodies regarding traffic public consultation and lack of planning for taxi access at major events needs to be addressed.

3 A moratorium on the issuing of taxi licences needs to be implemented until business levels start to approach Pre pandemic figures.

4 All vehicles in the fleet should be allowed a two year extension  on age limit requirements. This would allow cars to stay in the fleet up to 12 years old.

5 The Taxi Advisory committee is not fit for purpose.  This was highlighted through our appearance during our submission to the covid committee. Recently two representatives resigned from the Taxi Advisory committee when it became apparent the department of transport would not accept the advice given by the committee. The TAC needs to be disbanded for a national transport forum allowing all bodies who use the public roads a forum to input positively to the transport system of Ireland.

Only thing I cant understand is,why they are only looking for a moratorium on new licence issues till things return to normality , ,they should be looking for a moratorium for a lot longer then that, the gact is THERE ARE STILL FAR TO MANY TAXIS

If it doesn't have a roof sign and door stickers it's not a taxi.
