The Department of Health has confirmed that Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan will return to work next Monday, 5 October.

He took temporary leave in July to deal with personal family circumstances.

Dr Ronan Glynn has been Acting Chief Medical Officer since Dr Holohan stepped aside.

Dr Holohan said that he was "taking time out" from his work commitments to be with his family.

Advisors advise and Govts govern.

For a long time, the Govt were afraid to go against NPHET.  But a week or two ago, they invented a committee staffed by senior civil servants to act as a buffer between NPHET and the Govt.  The Govt will gradually start to ignore any advice they don't want to hear.  Any blowback and they can blame the 'buffer' committee..

Charlie Chawke's pubs sacked his staff last week and Louis Fitzgerald is threatening 1,000 job losses this week.  It can't go on for much longer.  Maybe we should just lock the country down 100% for 2 weeks and knock this virus on the head.  Free pizza and beer for the 2 weeks!  Works for me
