Looks like a big brother monitoring system.... see number 5. The price is decided by braking and the way you drive. Does that make bonus irrelevant?

Sense Policies FAQs

    What is Sense?

“Sense is the technology that powers our fairer Private Hire policies.

It is built into the Zego Sense app already. All you have to do to activate it is install our app, log-in once, and start driving. There is no need to check-in every time you’re out on the road - just ‘set and forget’.

As you’re out on the road, the app will work in the background, sensing your driving over time, and use this to provide you with driver feedback. This will give good drivers like you an indication that you’re on course for an even fairer price at renewal, while it will give bad drivers an indication that they may see an increase.

When it eventually comes to your renewal, we will use your driver feedback as a factor to give you the fairest price, based specifically on your good driving.”

Which data does Sense App collect?

Once you have given your permission, Sense will be activated immediately and will work away in the background as you’re out on the road, sensing how you drive over time.

Sense will pick up...

Your location, so we can understand things like how much you drive, how far you drive, which areas you drive in, and how quickly you go.
Gyroscopic data, which basically gives us a sense of how you accelerate, decelerate, and take corners.

These are the only pieces of data Sense can access. It cannot and will not access any other apps or documents, such as your emails, contacts, photos, banking information, health information, or social media for example. It will also not penalise you for using other apps on your phone as you drive, such as work provider apps.

Who has access to my driving data?

Other than Zego, only our app partner, Drivit, has access to your driving data.

Our underwriter, Wakam can view any changes to your price, but they do not have access to your driving data like we do.

No other third party has access to any of the information collected by the Zego Sense app, including work providers.

What is my data used for?

Once you’re insured with Zego and you’re out on the road, our app senses how you drive over time. This helps you show us your good driving skills, and so also how little risk you pose.

By using Sense and working with us, you can help us to get you a much fairer price for you at renewal, based more specifically on your good driving - not somebody else’s bad driving.

Which driving behaviours can negatively impact my price at renewal?

The driving behaviours that can negatively impact a bad driver’s price at renewal include...

    Harsh braking,
    Aggressive acceleration,
    Sharp cornering, and
    Excessive speed.

However, we should stress that our app senses your driving over time. This allows us to build up a clear picture of your driving, not just over one moment or even one day, but over the full length of your policy with us.

I SORT OF TOLD YOU THAT  .Look into how this company operates .Do you still have a No Claims Bonus in two years or are this crowd operating outside the normal Insurance protocol where earned NCB is transferable .The end game could be you lose your built up NCB and this crown double their premium and you have no option but to pay as your earned NCB has lapsed .LOOK BEFORE YOU LEAP .
