Where did all the pax go ?
« on: October 20, 2020, 05:16:46 am »
I have worked since the middle of April and it was OK'ish, mostly app work but still made a decent wage fer a few extra hours per week.
Since Level 3 was announced 2 weeks ago the arse has just fallen out of the game.

What mystifies me is that folk moved and moved a lot during the first lock down in March/April/Etc..
but now there aint no one moving anywhere and I cannot understand why ??

This Second Lockdown wont work its going to be a financial disaster .It reminds me of the time Big Blue and the boys in blue decided they would clear all the drug dealers from the flats so they basically locked the complex down stopped and searched people coming in and out of the flats and it did work until the thin blue moved on .Then all the dealers returned in fact more dealers returned because there was  more demand .Just like there will be after this lockdown is removed everybody will flood out on to the streets to shop or celebrate or meet friends for Christmas .Guaranteed not to work in the long run.

The government conned yis.in the budget they conceded to allow you to work and get your puppy dole making it look like they made a major concession to the self employed, then a few days later, they withdraw all hope of any work at all bu taking the country into lockdown .the drivers protested for some kind of a weekly payment to sistain them, and this is what they got instead.we need to go back to the streets till they give a REAL concession

Dollyer WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU WANT every unemployed or out of work, worker is getting some coin .Taxi driving is the fucking lowest rank of employment along with window cleaning .We are getting a weekly payment .You are looking at this on a today not a tomorrow opportunity .We can work and claim that has been established, if we get a four or five week run in to the new year we might get a bit of coin .If things improve a little next year we might get a small earner and claim our Puppy Coin .

That would seem to be the answer Hal.

During the first lock down the under priviliged areas of Cork were moving. I know, I worked them.
But today no one is moving..... anywhere....

The under Privlidged were getting 350 up from their normal 203 that fueled their glee with taxi trips to the offie or dealer .As soon as the Covid Coin got cut the work got cut .

Here Ken I've already told you about the COVID money getting cut like John says. But for many people getting put on the Covid payment and subsidy payment is the same as getting your notice.

These people are genuinely fearful they'll be unemployed when the covid money gets tapered off next year. The last thing they're gonna do is waste money on taxis. You need to think like the passenger to understand why it's shit out.

Kelly told you that there will never be a Buyback because a taxi licence has no value .Let me explain AGAIN AGAIN your taxi licence only entitles you to renew your taxi licence so you can renew it again a year later .Now after you renew your taxi licence how much is it worth .Answer nothing it only allows you to Go to Work it does not guarentee you one single fare it guarentees you absolutely no fiscal return .So it is as valuable as a Birthday Card might make you feel happy but really has no fiscal value .Your saloon licence  value is as valuable as a WAV licence the only difference is the vehicle you can put it on is not as restricted as a WAT licence .

I've always wondered,  if you put a saloon plate on a wav for a year or two can you then put it back on a saloon if you get a pain in your hoop driving a van? Not that I'm doing that, just wondered if maybe once you stick it on a wav it becomes a wav plate, permanently.

Yes if you put a Saloon licence on a WAT it is classed as a Saloon .
