do you not bother picking up drunks?

Are you referring to using a new car for taxi driving? When I was working I only do days.Clean work ,less money.

How much do you need to put on the counter to buy one ?after grants ?

About 30k after taxi grants John. But that's for a nice Tesla. Many might consider the smaller Leaf  40 which is a mere 12k after NTA  20k grant.

Nothing has been finalised yet so don't take my word for it.

12k is used car money If you have the coin to hand it looks like the offer of a lifetime .S Mc Carten who use to be on here got one you could ask him for feedback .

I've gotten 8 so far years of light usage out of me Prius. It cost me 6k.I have no interest in getting overweight on debt.

But...if the next vehicle pays for itself (even partially) in fuel savings I will spend a bit more.

The alternative is another newer Prius which is probably 12k anyway that will use €2500 per year on juice. It does make financial sense to go electric as long as I don't write it off or buy a lemon.

Tesla is a luxury brand.Plenty of teething problems. They're probably too complicated.Im still probably getting one with 20k from Eamo the genius.

oops  Tesla admits design flaw led to vehicle rear bumper falling off when driving in puddles of water
Getting old is compulsory whilst growing up is voluntary.

Not much point buying one in Cork then.

I went up to my local Nissan dealer last Sat,with the 62kw Leaf, you'd need to put 20k on the table after grants, don't think i'd be arsed getting the 40kw version(which is 7k cheaper)...but be grand if you live and work Dublin.

^^^^^^Niteman

40kwh is the smaller battery good for 130/150 miles.
62kwh is the bigger battery good for 220 miles.

KWH  stands for killowat hours of stored electricity.

Lads I don't know what way yous work but when it was busy I'd regularly do less than 100 miles a day.

My main reason for going for the bigger battery would be to lessen any impact of battery degradation as it got older.

Whether the bigger battery with possibly less degradation will get you ten yrs out of it is another question.

I'd be looking for 6/7/8 years  Hal and ten would be a bonus.

But if my previous mileage is anything to go by it wouldn't even have 200000 miles on it's tenth birthday.

I'd have to assume there will be proper garages who specialise in cheaper battery repair by then.Going to Nissan isn't really cost effective option.Or I'd figure out how do it myself which is much more likely.

I've learned a bit fixing the Prius battery.
