The Americans that own Dundalk wanted to buy the Aviva .They probably think if they build an Irish team they will always Qualify for Europe .Look at the average Gates in Dublin they wouldnt get 4000 for a home league game .Wimbledon Proposed to do this about 25 years ago .

2/7 England to beat Ireland .Real odds should be about 1/100 .2/7  if you had real money could be great value .

I was saying for years that I could not understand why a rich man luke Dermot Desmond ,or somebody like that would not invest in a league of ireland club, and the of course the bould Dermot did just that a while ago when he invested in rovers.for a relatively small outlay ( say) I million ,you were practically guaranteed to win the league, which brought champions league qualifaction that meant bwfore a ball is kicked you get 800,000 back just for qualifying.now if you got past the first round, you could nearly double that, and so on.it made perfect sense dor rich business men to invest.I saidit for years.

Wimbledon were gonna that's true and build the stadium between lucan and clondalkin near the new train station
They were blocked by 2 reasons

1  league of ireland objected saying it take from their gate and hurt their pocket as everyone would wannabe see premiership not league of ireland
2 the rest of premiership said they may not want to fly to fixtures and hassle of hotels and airports etc
Eventually abandoned even after it pointed out Cardiff was in whales technically another country and they in English leagues

Long long time ago I followed Wimbledon about but don't watch football anymore

I completely opposed that proposal at the time, and still would today.I am a committed LOI supporter and would do anything to protect our league.

There are not enough Decent Players in Ireland to fill a Subs Bench .Sometimes your stupidity is stupiter than stupit .This crowd say they think Irish Players are Dirt we know that but we dont say it out Loud and that they will import Players and Managers . Great to hear Lads who object to Foreign Taxi Drivers taking our Jobs supporting Foreign money and players taking our League .

Foreign investors are looking at Ireland thinking that it would be easy to bring a team like PSV schoolboy team .play league of Ireland and Go unbeaten for ever and they probably could but look at the reality .Decent Players would want decent money so the Bill to run the team would be a good couple of Million a year .Average gate For a Super team playing in Dublin wouldnt be 5000 who would want to go to see Dublin City Stallions play Longford Town on a Wednesday .The Standard of European Football is so Fucking Desperate with this new European Milk Cup that no real teams want to play in No real crowds or great TV interest .No Irish Based team could get the Crowds to Sustain a Champions League class Team .Cant see Kilkenny or Tipp Hurling supporters paying a ton for a home game to watch the Stallions Play Kazakstan Warriors in the early league stages of the European Milk Cup .Or Kerry or Donegal Football Supporters traveling for a league match they wont even travel for an All Ireland Semi Final .This team would be proper losers on the big stage so might get a lot of support from Mayo.I think what you might see is the Likes of Dundalk or Rovers who are sort of Guarenteed European Football for the next few years bringing in Brazilian or other South american players bit like Porto and Benfica to put them in the Euro shop window to advertise them for sale and then get a cut of the transfer fee from the club that owns them .Thats the only way a Foreign owned Club with Foreign Players could turn a profit from playing in Ireland .Is it just an idea to get work visas for players to go to the UK as they might insist to get a work visa you must of played at a certain level European Champions League or International .

1200 about the same as a Plumber .I see the Drogheda Owners are begging the Council to upgrade their rented Ground .What ever happened to all the money they got for selling their old Ground LOI is Poor Dollyer very Poor Rovers,Bohs or Dundalk wouldnt finish top of the Scottish premier or English Championship .Our best international Players wouldnt get on the subs bench for most other European Teams .Soccer in Ireland died on its arse when they brought in Vetting for anybody that worked with Children .Lads with Convictions for robbing a Bike just walked away from managing and coaching as they did not want their private past broadcast all over the Pub .Same applied to most youth workers .Big Dommos Sister ran the Girls Majourettes but when the Catholic Youth Council wanted all youth volunteers vetted before they would cover the insurance she retired as she didnt want the other girls to know she got done for shoplifting in Woolworths .
