I just read the Statutory Instrument and it does not say what penalty applies if a passenger does not wear a mask .I wonder if the same penelty applies as not wearing a mask on the bus .

If you read the Statutory Instrument as written .The rule applies to BOTH driver and passenger .So beware of the Penalty if you are caught with passengers on board and YOU are not wearing face covering ....People who fail to comply with mandatory rules on face coverings on public transport could face up to six months in prison and a fine of €2,500 from Monday.

Taoiseach Micheál Martin confirmed on Friday that regulations were being signed to make the wearing of face masks on public transport obligatory,

Under the new rules, gardaí can be called to enforce if someone fails to wear a face covering. If they continue not to co-operate, they can face arrest and prosecution, with a penalty for a conviction of up to €2,500 fine and/or six months in jail.

I’m all for protecting people but it seems that the enforcement is all about money.

Bus Unions said ...Union representatives, however have raised concerns about the legislation.
National Bus and Rail Union (NBRU) general secretary Dermot O'Leary claimed that no guidance has been issued to transport staff.

"In relation to our members, we will not be policing and we will not be enforcing this legislation," he told RTE.

"It's not our role to do it. A bus driver's job is to drive the bus, not to police the laws of the land.

I poster it earlier Watty .Unbelievable taxi reps have not voiced their concerne with this bill which places the onus to enforce it on lads with driving licences not legal degrees or qualifications .2500 euro fine if you dont bally up when carrying freight .

Big Dommo called over with Fish and Chips he is sort of traditional like that Friday was always fish and chips from the chipper near the flats a one and one .He says we ate Fish on Friday because Catholics were not allowed to eat meat .I was telling him about the Facemasks and he just said Catholics what the fuck .Then he tells me Jesus had to make his own Cross and carry it up the Hill so he could be Crucified bit like taxi drivers making crosses for their own backs .Never knew any Industry like it that asked for more Rules ,Regulations and Changes to make it harder to earn coin .I looked at him eating the bones of his long Ray and muttered "Amen to that "
