Went to the bar last night with Mrs. Catcher and the older not so young lad and the younger not so young lad so needed 4 seater taxis both ways. Going there I downloaded Bolt and, while their saloon cars accommodate 4 passengers - according to the app anyway - they had nothing available so I had to resort to Free Now - obviously yisser love paying 15% commission instead of 10% because they had millions of cars of all shapes and sizes available. However, their saloon cars only carry 2 passengers so I had to select one of the thousands of "XL" cars, then the app asks if I have 5, 6, 7 or 8 passengers - no option for 4 passengers so I lied and put 5 and travelled in the back of a converted cargo van which arrived within 90 seconds. Good enough.
Coming home I asked the female barman top cal me a taxi - stressing that it is for 4 passengers - and, after the customary "you're a fucking taxi" exchange he contacted a local firm. The driver arrived in a saloon car and declared that he can only take 3 passengers. As he's a local and a nice bloke I was set to divide our party and order another taxi but then he said "it's the law". I drive a cab myself and I haven't been informed of any such alteration to the terms and conditions of my vehicle licence so I doubted that - maybe someone on here can clarify - and decided we'd Hail0 a van instead... stressing to the now jobless driver that I did request a four seater and apologising for the confusion. Tried to Hail0 on Bolt, again nothing available yet got a van from Free Now within 60 seconds.
