Used to be an unwritten rule that we would be waved through checkpoints. It changed a bit after entry liberalisation back in 2000. For a while you were more likely to be stopped than not but it seems to have swung back the other way now, particularly if you have no passengers and your roof light is illuminated. Not sure why you'd want to be stopped, T1990. Checkpoints up above in Dublin aren't manned by local friendly community minded Gardai who'll turn a blind eye to most everything these day, more often than not there's balaclava clad thugs pointing powerful firearms at you... it's like West Belfast in the 70s/80s.
