« on: January 14, 2021, 06:35:31 pm »
Junk mail from Free Now:

Hi Stephen,

Yesterday, we announced the new FREE NOW Home Charger Grant Match initiative and will be investing €6million to help FREE NOW drivers with the cost of installing an electric vehicle home charger.

Although there are long-term cost benefits, we understand that the initial cost of putting an electric vehicle on the road can be expensive and want to support you where we can. So, to make that initial change to electric even easier, we have launched the FREE NOW Grant Match that allows you to save an extra €600!

How does it work?

We’ll be offering every driver who successfully avails of the SEAI home charging grant scheme an opportunity to save an additional €600 through the FREE NOW EV Home Charger Grant Match. Eligible drivers will receive a rebate of up to €600 on their FREE NOW commission, further reducing the costs that drivers must bear. The FREE NOW Grant Match will be available until the 31st January 2022.

Who can apply?

You can get this grant match if you drive an ESPSV and have successfully availed of the SEAI home charging grant scheme and have had a home charger installed. You can learn more about the FREE NOW Home Charger Grant Match and apply by clicking the button below.

I wonder are they still giving the €1000 towards the purchase of the car like before.

I think one of the conditions of that deal was that you has to brand your vehicle. Not really a great offer.

Only available until 31st Jan next year. I assume you have to have paid the up to €600 in freight after buying the charger and before Feb 1st 2022 to get any rebate?

There should be at least 5.9 million left after the 2021 Free now allocation is given out.

They should be taking this serious by offering 5k for every driver that buys a leccy car. That plus the 20k from the NTA would make me get serious about going electric.

T
esla has been told to recall more than 150,000 of its vehicles over an issue with failing touch screens, which could increase the risk of crashes.

The issue with the Model S and Model X cars involves memory chips that are used in the displays of 158,000 vehicles made between 2012 and 2018.

They wear out and the screen to stop working, which could increase the risk of accidents on the road.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration requested Tesla make the recall. The firm has until January 27 to respond.

Tesla did make some updates to mitigate some of the issues but the NHTSA said they were not sufficient.

It said the failure of the media-console units (MCU) was "a defect related to motor-vehicle safety”.

It cited a range of issues including the loss of rear-view camera images and controls for heating, air conditioning and defrosting.

The potential loss of audible chimes and alerts associated with indicators and the driver-assistance Autopilot feature was also noted.

Tesla would need 1,600 YEARS to earn the money invested in the company on the stock market
Tesla delivered less than 500,000 cars in 2020 yet added almost $750billion to its market value as its shares continue to surge
After a dip on Monday, they rebounded to more than $853 per share
Yet experts warn that the company would need 1,600 years to earn as much money as has been invested on the stock market at this current earnings rate
Its share price is currently 128 times the amount of earnings per share
The industry average is for share price to be around 15 times the price of earnings per share
If shares prices continue to rise on Wednesday, founder and CEO Elon Musk, 49, could once again become the world's richest person

IF ELECTRIC CARS ARE SO GOOD WHY HAVE NONE OF THE OTHER CAR MAKERS STOPPED MAKING COMBUSTION ENGINED CARS AND WENT ALL ELECTRIC .

Because the battery technology isn't quite there yet John....and the charging infrastructure certainly isn't,the Toyota Prius is around since 97 but they didn't put all their eggs in that particular basket but i'd buy a Toyota hybrid over any other car manufacturer hybrid.

Looking at the Tesla share price it has to CRASH that will have the effect of people losing trust in EVs that will destroy second hand or trade in value so you would need to be comitted for the full 9 years and will the batteries last that long .

The folks who believe in Tesla aren't thinking about just electric cars. That's just a small part of something bigger.Tesla will keep going up and they'll keep splitting the shares like Apple did.

Short sellers lost 35 billion on Tesla last year. How do you bet against Tesla?.That's financial suicide right there and honestly demonstrates a lack of insight.Ten years from now $900 for a Tesla share will look cheap.I'll be happy to remind ya.By then Musk will probably own Daimler and Ford and a few other companies.
