A popular Dublin store was sealed off this morning as gardai launched a ganghunt into a burglary in the city.
Officers are now searching for the group who 'smashed open' the Londis store on Westmoreland Street and managed to flee with their hands full.
The gang nicked a number of items as well as a sum of money while also causing significant damage to the property itself.
One shaken employee told Dublin Live that they came across the mess outside as they opened up the store on Friday morning before making the shock discovery inside.
They said: "This used to be a 24-hour shop but it closes at 8pm now and the people who have done this have taken advantage of that fact.
"Gardai were called straight away and hopefully they will be able to find those responsible and quickly."
A Garda spokesman confirmed the incident to Dublin Live.
He said: "GardaĆ are investigating an incident of burglary that occurred at a retail premises on the 22 January 2021 at 3.15am on Westmoreland.
"A sum of cash and a number of items were taken and there was some damage inflicted to the property."
He added: "No arrests have been made and investigations are going."
