A man has been raced to hospital following what has been described as a "serious assault" in north Dublin this afternoon.
The man, who is in his 50s, was taken to Beaumont Hospital following the attack, which took place near the Elphin pub on Baldoyle Road in Sutton at around 1pm.
Gardai remain at the scene this afternoon and a man in his 30s has been arrested and is currently detained at Clontarf garda station.
A garda spokeswoman said: "GardaĆ are currently at the scene of a serious assault in Baldoyle, Dublin 13 which occurred at approximately 1pm this afternoon, Wednesday 28th January 2021.
"A male, aged in his 50s, was taken to Beaumont Hospital for treatment, with serious but non-life threatening injuries.
"A male, aged in his 30s, was arrested at the scene and is currently being detained at Clontarf Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
"The scene is currently preserved for a technical examination. Investigations are ongoing."
