Ballyfermot Bike Bandits

Gardaí investigating a number of thefts in the Ballyfermot area of Dublin have arrested two people today.

After a number of thefts were reported along the Grand Canal between February 1 and 5, Gardaí initiated an operation in the area.

In one incident on Friday, February 5, a man who was cycling to work at around 7am was stopped and threatened by three men.

A knife was produced and the victim was forced to hand over his mobile phone and his bank card along with disclosing his PIN.

Following the incident, a quantity of cash was taken from his account.

This morning, at 6.15am, Gardaí prevented an attempted robbery near Park West and shortly after arrested a man, 20, and a teenage boy at a nearby location.

The two are currently detained at Clondalkin and Ballyfermot Garda stations and investigations are ongoing.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have information concerning other incidents in the area to come forward.

In particular, persons who were near the vicinity of the Grand Canal between 6-7am on Monday, February 1 and Friday, February 5.

They are like lord of the Flies they are ferrel there are about 8 of them .They operate from Black Horse to Clondalkin .I posted about them before .They were grabbing Phones out of cars at Black Horse .I had the first reported Victim in the Car over a year ago .He was hit on the head with a hammer bike stolen .Gards knew who it was .They stopped and searched him a few days later and he was carrying a tomahawk made from a hammer wit a knife sellotaped across the handle .I know who he is he is from Bluebell I still see him around so must not of been charged or convicted for carrying a weapon .Inchicore is out of control the scum take the Luas from town or Tallaght meet up there .Black Horse Bridge is a great mugging spot loads of escape roots into Inchicore ,Bluebell ,Drimnagh or Ballyfermot .A girl from near me in Clondalkin had her Christmas presents stolen on the Old Nangor road she stopped the car at the lights before the turn for yellow meadows (Boomers Pub ) and some scumbag ran through the pedestrian gap on the canal bank opened the door of the car and grabbed the presents that were sitting in bags on the back seat .That stretch of the Canal is a no go area .
