Mc Williamsenomics written from his boxroom .Ethna ,Parig,Blaheen and Pascal have been locked up in their Domestic Prisons fingering and wanking the Birth rate is down Marrages are down due to Coved 19 .More old people have rent books for Mount Gerome freeing up more houses .Ireland Inc. will become a very high tax country when the Covid coin has to be repaid to the exchequer meaning inward investors will need to look at wage rates to encourage skilled workers to come to Ireland as we wont have any due to the Almost Collapse of the Irish Educational System under the FF Girl from Kerry .A proper Economist would factor in these parameter's  and forecast a stagnant population rate .With the return of immigration and lack of inward migration .

Interesting concept. If COVID '19 has taught us anything - more likely that we'll stick to cap-in-hand finance - it's that we need significantly increased taxation. Income tax ought to be significantly increased to build a health care service comparable with the NHS in the UK and a minimum of €972 should be added to air fares to tackle climate change.

Any economist worth their drink money would suggest .Increase in Household Charge ,Introduction of Water Charges ,Increased Income tax reduction in reliefs ,Increase in Death Duty or reduction in reliefs ,Increase in Fuel and Alcohol and Smoke duty to save our health .Increase in or introduction of a Hospital levy ringfenced to pay for Hospital Maintenance or development .And the piss in the Wine Glass the Fiscal Treaty .That we were fooled into voting for .Will be used by lenders to show we dont stick to our own rules and they will demand higher interest rates after the ECB turn off the printing presses .In another tread you were discussing Capital Gains tax if they increase them that will take a nice nibble out of pension funds .I think I might open a second hand clothes shop or Pawn Shop .Play Showaddy waddy the Rubettes or Mud as background Music burn a few Joss sticks and we will be back in the 1970..50 years regression .

Pension funds are generally subject to Income Tax, not CGT... but you're on the right tracks. Significant increases are required, starting with air travel. Folk have already shown a willingness to pay €500 COVID '19 surcharge/fine, that needs to be almost doubled and applied to all overseas travel going forward.

What say you Comrade Rodent to assessing your main dwelling as a calculable asset for the purpose of access to welfare,Pension ,or free medical attention .What say you to a shit tax a meter fitted to your crapper and a sticker saying if its yellow  let it mellow if its brown flush it down and they tax you per flush .They already pay you to dispose of other waste .or a bicycle tax ,Im sure that bike tyres disintegrate on use and poison the environment .Now that the minister for Music wants to hand out coin to artists should they introduce a tax on I phones or other Music devices to raise funds to pay Drummer Dole .

Luckily the Shinners will be in power and everybody will be Glad .

None of that would work for me but it's probably more likely than properly funded public services through increased taxation. The one they'll find it difficult to ignore is the air fare tax. We know folk want to pay it and we know the environment and the economy need it.

I think you are correct but tourism would be effected by the reintroduction of the £5er airport tax its almost a given to fund DAA debt and they will blame Mick the Mouth because he called the Government Cunts on Radio Eireann Breakfast with Brona or whatever her handle is .

It needs to be at least €972 not a fiver. Folk are already happy to pay the €500 COVID '19 surcharge/fine and €472 non-refundable deposits for imaginary dental treatment.

The modern equivalent of the TV licence ought to be charged per person rather than per premises. I guess one could simplify the contribution by just reducing tax credits by c.€800/person and thereby exempt those reliant on welfare... but that would require trade union agreement on redeployment of collection/enforcement personnel within a significantly expanded civil service.

What about a Dog scrappage tax bit like the scrappage charge for old cars .With every body now buying dogs for company during lockdown and to use as a walking licence .Should the Minister for Dead stuff bring in a dead dog charges .SF could bring it in gradually with it only applying to British Bulldogs and Old English Sheepdogs at first .

As ridiculous as your proposals sound, they're probably at least equally as likely as a grown up approach to taxation and service provision.
