The Football Association of Ireland has announced a new broadcast deal with RTÉ Sport for the SSE Airtricity Premier Division, as well as a new streaming platform for the First Division and Women's National League.

The new broadcast deal with RTÉ Sport will see over 50 Premier Division matches broadcast live on RTÉ television and WATCHLOI up until the mid-season break in June.

The FAI President's Cup final between Shamrock Rovers v Dundalk will be free-to-air on watchloi.ie on Friday, 12 March, with kick-off at 7.45pm.

The SSE Airtricity Premier Division coverage on RTÉ will begin with champions Shamrock Rovers at home to St Patrick's Athletic on Friday, 19 March, followed by Waterford v Sligo Rovers on 26 March and Shamrock Rovers v Dundalk on Good Friday, 2 April.

Full details on pricing and season passes for WATCHLOI will be announced in due course.

In the First Division and Women's National League, the FAI will launch a new streaming platform, LOITV. It will stream all matches across the two divisions with Pixellot cameras set to be installed in every ground to stream all matches in the 2021 season.

The Pixellot system uses artificial intelligence with HD cameras to deliver a top-quality viewing experience with the cameras used in many leagues across the world.

Ah FFS, ye can't be putting the terms "professional" and FAI in the same  news snippet.

I accidentally watched soccer on RTE, supported by CBs licence fee, last night. I tuned in to RTE2+1 at 23:10 to watch a documentary on Shergar, supported by CBs licence fee, and had to endure a couple of foreign soccer teams as they navigated their way through "extra time" until approx. 00:00. It was refreshing to hear working class Dublin accents, none of which were Joe Duffy, on the box all the same. I always find it amusing when they try and try and try to pronounce their Ts and THs...
