An 'unregistered' food business has been shut down by the Food Safety Authority of Ireland.

A closure order was served by the FSAI on Rilwan Fujah for the food business running out of a house at 2 Brownsbarn Wood at Kingswood Cross.

The order on the 'unknown' food business was served on April 20 and has still not been lifted.

A detailed report into the closure of the business, that was working out of a popular estate, will be released next week.

You can find more information on the FSAI website.

FSAI chief Dr Pamela Byrne said it is vitally important all food businesses in the country are properly registered before trading so that they can comply with the necessary measures.

She said: "It is wholly unacceptable that some food businesses are choosing to operate outside of the law and also that they did not register their business before they started operating.

"All food business owners, big or small, whether trading from a business premises, in the home, from a mobile unit, food truck and/or online, must be registered and must be operating in line with food safety and hygiene legislation.

"It is the responsibility of the food business owner to ensure the food they produce and sell is safe to eat, and that consumers are not misled.

"No matter where, how or from whom consumers buy food, it must be safe to eat, produced in an approved or registered food establishment and comply with food law."
If it doesn't have a roof sign and door stickers it's not a taxi.
