How would the garage know I was a business?  I'd buy it as a personal car and tax/insure it as such for the month until I got the NCT/Suitability/stickers etc done?

Maybe if you wanted someone like the seller, e.g. MD motors, to up front the price until you got sorted.

The NTA won't release the grant until the taxi is stickered up with a meter & roofsign etc.  Can't imagine any garage trusting you to 'deface' a brand new car on the promise you'd come back in a month with the NTA cheque?

MD Motors did for a guy I know, as confirmed by Hal when I put them in touch with each other.

This is a problem and an anomaly with the grant system,i spoke to my local Nissan and Kia dealers and they're not to happy to release cars to have taxi graffiti and meters installed and then having to wait 21 days for payment from the NTA.....as Bob said,MD Motors will look after securing and stickering up but if you're looking to finance the balance or a portion of it through them...it's quite expensive as opposed to getting finance through Kia in particular.

For an extra €1000 o'sullivan motors will to you the car and the grant money will go to him.
So you will get the kia eniro for €20000 without having to pony up the full amount which is €42000.

As far as I know if you do that (buy it as a personal car) you get the 5 large off it,but when you go to get the 20 large grant I was told that they check and see if there was already a discount given and you won't get the full 20,there was a whisper that you could buy it in your wife's name and then change it over to you to get the 5 and then the 20 but I'm not sure.

An ev will be a load of trouble at 200,000km onwards if it even gets that far, the batteries are not proven for commercial use, sales rep and taxi drivers. There are people on youtube claiming 1 million miles on a big battery tesla, but when you look into it they are on their 4th battery and multiple motor changes. Stay as ye are are go hybrid petrol or diesel. At least you can get a few quid for it if its looked after. Somebody will want a cheap runabout that will do 1400km on a fill. Your going to see the scrap yards full to the gills with 7 to 10 year old evs with snagged batteries.

Here is what Im thinking .It runs of Electric we are building loads of data centers that will gobble up more power than we can generate .Most of the Chargers will be three Phase wouldnt put it past the Government to meter those home chargers to a much higher rate than domestic electricity so running costs could soon match carbon fuels .Government need to replace fuel duty with some other duty .Domestic Electricity will shoot up in price as we need to ration it because of those Data Centers .PLUS and its a big plus what happens when the ESB go on strike or there are blackouts .You saw the effect of Musk saying Bitcoin uses to much electricity how long before the Greens want to abort their Bastard Electric Child ?

That Zoe thing looks very small on the road but  more importantly it's another car without proper door handles. You'd get a pain in yer rocks instructing the drunks how to open the rear doors every 20 minutes.

In effect you are getting 2 grants for the one car.
