Just thinking about lads saying their kids cant afford to buy a house ..When I was about 14 I worked as a Breaster on a truck .For those who dont know what a breaster was ,a lot of factories and jobs were unionized and would not unload a truck if the driver did not have a helper even though most of the cargo was lifted off by crane or forklift no work for driver or breaster .Lad I worked with .Gave me advice he said No matter what you achieve in life you have very little .Your Work no matter what it is its yours try doing something you enjoy .Your Bet ,Your Smokes .Your pint ,your wank .As long as you work you will have a few quid for smokes,gargle and porter .If you earn good coin she will have it or your family will have it .She controls the Sex so the only sex that is guaranteed is your wank .No mention of owning a car or house or mobile phone or foreign holidays .

I think at 56 i'd struggle to move house,this was our first house(bought in 99) and it's a lovely area so it would want to be a house on it's own..doesn't need to be big and a little closer to the beach/sea.....we're right on the Boyne(5min walk) but on the beach would be nicer...even during the winter.

I moved 6btimes in 10 yr
I buy run down houses do them up while working taxi and flog them on
The one I'm in now though I like and don't wanna sell
Also to buy a run down house now is hard everything is snapped up and prices up now
Always buy in d12 or 8
Built granny flat out back so I think I'm staying
I has it valued I bought 2 yr ago for 300 and told it 475 now
Put about 60 into it and did alot myself
Problem is if I sell I can't buy and I'm drained from covid so think il stay

I proposed that to my mates about 35 years ago and they spent the time discussing Carpenters earn more than brickies who earn less than plumbers and who gets paid for doing what .The idea was simple everybody go to the credit union borrow about 3 K that would give us a a decent fund to buy doey uppers with a bank loan then sell it or mortgage it when its done but fellas were more interested in their own wage packet and not the project .Capital Gains VAT.unreliable workers and suppliers .I left it alone in the end .A mate of mine did give it a go last I heard he is divorced bankrupt back living with his brother in the old family gaff living on Lidil Beer and Crisps .
