When I was a kid and you went into a betting shop,be it Kilmartins/Cashmans/Rogers/Grahams,there on the wall was Limits--ie 200/1 Doubles and 300/1 Trebles etc with max payout on day akin to £500--with Mirror and Chronicle on the wall and Extel crackling out the odds--the staff barely knew more than 5/6 types of bets outside singles, doubles ,trebles and accums with occasional yankee or super yankee--that was how basic it was and easily managed -a Settler and Counterhand with little qualifications---operators like Billy "Arkle" Kilpatrick ,Cashmans ,Rogers and Grahams lived and died on their opinion !
Now you visit PP the staff still know little,as its all on down to technology, but the range of bets is ludicrous, opportunities to bet ever 60/90 sec all technology driven and policed--odds calculated by recruits from Trinity /Ucd with Masters in Statistics and Actuarial studies--they wouldn't know how to have an opinion ,good or bad --occasionally they make an error and let some marketing guru come up with a price --Donnacha to train a Listed winner 6/4 and 3/1 a Group winner --how much could you get on ? ZERO as technology /network has you screwed !
If you have an opinion --stand by it but weigh it up if it looks too good to be true they may be a reason-Logic comes into it ---The Bird who owns Bet 365 is the best paid around circa 450 mil p.a.--
PP a combination of a Waterford Joe with David Power (Accountant)John Corcoran,(Property Man) and Kenny O Reilly (Marketteers) saw what the future when they set up and now they are one of the biggest in the world--I remember when they floated on the market £1 a share --madness I thought and I was right ,the lads had bundled up some dubius leasehold shops, framed a business and got it away --shares dropped to 70 pence I think-
I knew I was right and delighted at their plight ---how wrong can you be ?
Very !!!
Thats why I drive a Joe !!
