Arachas hails broker to confirm its rank (Sunday Times, Paywalled)

Quote
Industry consolidator Arachas has bought BJP Insurance Brokers, the leading provider of cover for the taxi industry.

BJP is Arachas’s seventh acquisition since 2017, confirming its position as Ireland’s largest independent insurance broker with more than 300 staff and €350 million a year in gross written premiums.

Arachas chief executive Conor Brennan described BJP as “part of our strategic vision to expand our business and become leading players in our field”. He declined to reveal the price paid for BJP but confirmed that all of its employees would transfer to Arachas.

The deal, the second by Arachas so far this year, follows its acquisition last September of broker O’Driscoll.O’Neil, a specialist in insurance cover for sports, events and education. Arachas also bought Murray & Spelman, a large regional broker based in Galway, in 2019.

Founded in 1979 by Brian Pierce and his wife, Gabrielle, BJP is the largest provider of insurance to the taxi trade in a scheme underwritten by Axa for the past 20 years.  Pierce plans to reitre, handing over the transfer of BJP to his son, Terry Pierce, who takers on a senior position in Arachas.

<snip>

I wonder if Brian Pierce knows something we don't or has he just decided to take up golf?  :-X

I wonder if our premia will go up now that Arachas will need to cover the purchase price of BJP?

Was with BJP when I started out over 15 years ago, had a accident (NOT my fault) , they did fcuk all to help me sort it out, in the end did it myself.

The marriage with BJP ended soon after that.

I think OXO was tied up with them.
You had to join their Union to get a quote from Pierce...I remember Oxo rang me with a great quote from them, so I joined the union until I got a bad quote! Thats about 20 years ago!
