tinted windows
« on: May 31, 2021, 06:08:44 pm »
does anybody know what the crack is with tinted windows.
i see a lorra cars these days that have the rear passanger windows tinted up and i believe it's the glass itself that's darkie as opposed to a dark film that you can just peel off. i think i heard a cunt say to me a while ago that he bought a car with rear tinted windows and it failed suitability and he had to buy two non tinted windows and have them fuckin swapped out for all prices like a cunt. i presumed what he was saying at the time was a loada bollocks.

Dunno.  I also believed the NTA did not like tinted windows at all at all.  But you see loads of taxis with tinted windows.

I also met a guy who bought a brand new Camry hybrid (€48k ?) who couldn't pass suitability & waited for 2 weeks for non-tinted windows to come into Ireland.

Well, that clears that up!  :2cheers

Off topic as usual...but I recommend none of yis change vehicles until yous are absolutely positive that you won't get another year from your vehicle.

The nice chap that passed out my car last week kinda hinted that blokes like me might get another year in 2022.Just his opinion but it's still possible.

I'm in the same boat as you.  My worry is that the NTA newsletter said normal service is resuming soon and implied that the 2022 taxis are outta luck.  Why would they say that?  I was kinda surprised because, if RC's stats are right, there's over 1,500 of us!

To cut a long story short, all door windows have a small capital letter (denotes the shade) with a circle around it (in the corner),if that letter has a smaller letter v over it it's a fail.

I'm really only relicensing it now to buy some time until we're back in business without restrictions. It would kill me to put something nice on the road while we're under the threat of more lockdowns.

It's illegal to do the front and passenger ones in many countries for safety reasons so the manufacturer just to the rear from the factories.

I dunno about yous but I can't wear sunglasses while driving because it reduces my visibility too much.I can't see what's coming in my mirrors with them on.Also it makes me look too cool.

Nearly all car coming onto the market have the rear passenger door windows tinted....the NTA must be rubbing their hands knowing this makes it more difficult and an expense for drivers.

They've no problem with tinted drivers.
If it doesn't have a roof sign and door stickers it's not a taxi.
