Afghanistan in turmoil
« on: August 25, 2021, 11:57:10 pm »
Strange times indeed. No sooner was it accepted that the Taliban will morph back into power, that the news was released we're accepting three hundred refugees immediately.

The Irish government has always played down its role in the suppression of the Taliban. When pressured in 2014, they announced that Irish soldiers would be coming home from that war, even though we're alleged to be neutral.

I smell a rat. How could any Government department vet possible refugees so quickly? Were they collaborators with the western forces in Afghanistan?

What percentage of the refugees are male?

Women are going to take the brunt of the west's withdrawal from that region, but it seems the C-17's are packed with healthy-looking males.

Something is not right.

Imagine how you would feel if your son died ,fighting the Arabs, for the sake of liberty. A bit bitter that it was all in vain and a waste of a life....anyways the Tallaght Band were awful and I thought they had disbanded. I heard there was too much fiddling going on and they had too many flute players.

There is gonna be trouble over there !

The UN reckon that there will be quarter of a million refugees looking to leave the country ??
I would easily say to Quadruple or Quintuple or even Twenty times + that number !

The Taliban are good at military tactics, but no idea of how to govern a country.
They have no idea of how to look after their own citizens, how to provide food or medicine,
how to provide schooling or even about how to restart the banking system ??

Now that they have won in Afghanistan they have no idea of what to do !
And with the ISIS Kounts looming over their shoulder and Al-Quada lurking in the background,
it's weapons at every street corner !

And unlikely any foreign help/aid will be coming fer fear of attack by air or road.

The Taliban made their own bed and now they have to lie in it !

Strange times make for strange bedfellows.  Some pundits reckon America and the Taliban might become 'friends' of sorts to counter the threat of ISIS-K and Al-Qadea!

They need money, and expertise. It remains to be seen from what quarter it will come.

To be fair the Taliban seem like a nice bunch of lads. I heard an Afghan immigrant on the wireless complaining that her sister wasn't allowed enter the airport until she covered her face... could happen anywhere, I guess.
