BOOM
« on: December 17, 2021, 12:44:56 am »
The National Public Health Emergency Team has expressed "exceptional concern" about the impact of Covid-19 and the Omicron variant in its latest advice to Government tonight.

The recommendations include significant reductions in hospitality hours with a suggested 5pm closing time from next Monday.

NPHET is advocating that sporting, theatre and cultural gatherings should not take place after 5pm and capacity should be cut to 50%, or 5,000 people for outdoor events.

Close contacts of a confirmed case, who have not received a booster vaccine, will be advised to restrict their movements.

However, the current restrictions around allowing people from three households to gather in the home of a fourth are not set to be tightened.

A pity they don't advise the government, and the government manages press releases.

This is a deliberate tactic. They leak that they'll close hospitality at 5pm but hope people are thankful that it's been dragged out till 8pm.

There could be cuntology in that .If the pub is opened for 40 hours a week you dont get Coin or PUP .if you open at 10 till 5 thats only 7 hours by 5 =35 hours but extend the day and your earnings are not effected .

'Tis gas.  Our civil liberties have been severely curtailed for the past 2+ years and most of us just shrugged our shoulders and got on with it.  But get between a man and his pint and it's WAR  >:D  Politicians of all descriptions issued furious press releases denouncing the shortened hours and more even came out of the Dail bar (still open I hear) and gave angry interviews about the ban.  Still I guess we can console ourselves when our mates come around to the house parties with their slabs of beer and bottles of vodka.  What could possibly go wrong?

Nine people are due before the courts this morning following an investigation into suspected organised immigration crime.

Gardaí attached to the Garda National Immigration Bureau (GNIB) charged the nine with offences under the Passport Act, the Civil Registration Act and the Theft and Fraud Offences Act.

All nine are due to appear before the Criminal Courts of Justice (Court 4) this morning at 10.30am.

“The investigation lead by GNIB uncovered an alleged organised fraud, contrived to secure immigration status within the State,” gardai said in a statement.

“The organised fraud related to suspected cases of false parentage, whereby female non-nationals were giving birth to children and allegedly falsely naming Irish or EU citizens as the father of the child.

“One person has previously appeared before court in relation to this investigation.”
