Christmas week was ok'ish just as good as a normal week pre-covid, NYE was exceptionally busy, Sat night (news year day) was dead as a door-nail. I was out at 6.30pm fer the 7 job FN Bobo hunt, no job fer the first hour and did 4 FN jobs by 10pm !
Home fer 11.30pm with my worst Sat night takings ever and signed back on the PUP.

Kenneth Dublin has been like that for nearly two years .I have Yellow Pack Flu old fashioned version so havent worked the festive season .Not fair to others for me to snot all over them .One Swallow does not a Summer Make .Lads think a good weekend will do for the time being but a Good weekend is probably the future .Kids wont be going to the Pub or Nightclub .A line of Coke and Netflix and Porn Hub is their entertainment .Your old industry has all moved on line .Every race live on your Phone .People now demanding they work from home .In Dublin and Soon in every town and city Rent a Car by the hour .Rent a bike ,rent a scooter ,deliver a dinner .Covid introduced us to Hubs and Bubbles thats the future Kenneth people wont travel 500 meters for any service .Its all part of the green Agenda to cut down on un necessary travel .We are actually going backwards when I was young you got your Milk and Bread and Coal and Newspapers delivered now they call this service Amazon .Very few people owned cars we used public transport ,we are heading back there .Gay Byrne ran the Country now its Anto Hooligan .Things are differently the Same .Next years fashion will be long hair and bellbottomed trousers .1936 Germany is replaced by 2022 Russia .Japan replaced in Asia by China .Mentally handicapped American Presidents replacing Physically Handicapped from the 30s .Nothing is new Kennets just different Players same game .That Little Short arsed Fucktard in France is going to sail close to the wind he has an Election to win Boris thinks he is the New Churchill .If we can learn anything from the past it is that the future will be identical as People remained the same while technology moved on .I have posted on here for some time If there is an opportunity to retrain or upskill that the government will pay for then take it .The much Missed Francis the Sociopath opined that taxi driving was a part time Gig .If a Man earned 700 a week before costs on the app .His costs would be about 105 in comission probably 95 in juice 40 a week in insurance a fiver in licence fees .minimum of 50 a week for cost of car over its ten year lifespan and probably 30 a week on average in maintainance .Tyres .Srvice minor or Major repairs.Thats 325 Euro per week out of 700 to go to work leaves you with 375 in your pocket before tax and PRSI .Imagine that your largest expense is Comission that you pay somebody for access to work you originally had free access to . The taxi industry has changed so much in the last ten years its no longer a viable job for the amount of people depending on it for a living.So Kenneth I would like to welcome you to the real world twice the work for half the money.Not to many other industries can make that boast .

A lot of Lads will be forced Out Especially the Cripmobiles .Now that We dont have the Brits to do our fighting for us in the EU new Emissions requirements will force dirty diesels off the road .With no grants to replace them how will lads fund a Battery operated Cripmobile probably around 60K .Just look at your phone drawer at home full of part worn Nokias or apples all with the same fault the battery wont hold a charge so second hand part worn Battery motors will be risky .GET A BIKE .Even a cheap electric saloon could be 30K in a few years depending on the longevity of the battery Rental might just become uneconomic for investors to fund a fleet .Regular wagepacket Anto can be nice if you find the right job .

What JOHN left out was paid holidays ,some class of sick pay ,semi regular hours !

This game was great ,when I started in early 90s --every job was cash ,with Joe Public happy to see you ,as the Cab Companies got involved a/c work grew with Metro/City taking further commission to freight but with no record of cash work retained ,still happy days--then the  Companies get screwed by APPS with digital records etc then the Drivers got screwed--so I concur--cashless society etc has game totally screwed --the game is Fucked --lucky or unlucky I am an OAP with my grand a month off the state --never did less trade over the Christmas but was pretty careful---from 50 bills an hour for 7/8 hours 20 years ago on NY day to 50 bills for 2 hours effort ,not a true reflection I know but not that far off --

For the first Ne'er days in 25 years, it was tumbleweed city. As usual, on New years eve drivers came out chasing an elusive bonus, then shortly after 01.00 all but disappeared.

Ne'er day was always a bumper, with cabbies who worked NYE pissing it up against the wall. All the staff that had to work NYE would be on the tear...not this year.

The streets were barren in Dublin, maybe Cork is different. Let's hope it returns to normal this year.

The game was OK fer most of this pox pandemic, granted it did fall apart when the pubs closed in Oct '20 till they re-opened in June '21, and again we were OK then till they semi-closed a few weeks back, but Chrimbo was good as folk still did all the Chrimbo stuff, but from New years day on I would agree, the game is over !
