It's pathetic  listening to a Garda, and a male at that, on Kenny dead repeat begging for the €1k, a permanent, pensionable, job with clothes, and compensation for injuries,  no shame. I will refuse it if it's offered to taxi drivers.
Trump has called for help, so I'm on a plane heading for The Strait of Hormuz, talk soon.

You win Occi .The fucking stupidest post ever posted ,Or did you really post this or was it a heard of Monkies messing with Typewriters .You me and others were prevented from working then requested not to work as the virus needed to be constrained .A lot of self employed workers and their families got 350 or less to live on and pay mortgages while others in Civil or Public services got to work from home on full wages and were unaffected financially by the Lockdowns .Nurses Doctors Garda done their Jobs thats what they signed up for Got paid overtime and other allowances same with shopkeepers their jobs stayed open we were requested not to work or constrained as other parts of the economy we relied on were closed down .The Grand you are offered is to help you get back on the road so you can resume earning and pay taxes such as VAT on your Fuel ,Maintainance,Car then pay PRSI and Income tax on your earnings .You are getting nothing for nothing .Not the next budget but the one after that You can be sure tax rates will increase through cuts in allowances Your PRSI contribution will increase and younger lads than Me will see the time they need to work before they get a Pension pushed out a few years .Provided Mr Vladamir Putin dosent march all over us the Germans will do German Stuff and the Fucking Idiot Irish Government who signed up for the Fiscal Treaty will be forced to repay all our borrowings .Occi the few Coins you get over the next few weeks will be the last you ever recieve from the Irish State .A lot of people seem to have lost focus watching the Smiley Youngone off of Virgin Media giving you the Death Scores  or the Guitar Playing Doctor telling you to needle up .Before the Great Covid this country was border line insolvent .Now with House Prices more expensive than pre Boom and bust Brexit and the Shinner Goverment (They wont form a government wont get anybody to go in with them )Add in all the borrowed coin to pay PUP and Billions in not needed subsidies to multi billion earning  Companies  .You will be required to pay back many multiples of what you think was free sitting at home coin from the State .

While I appreciate the sentiment behind your decision, I question the logic Octy. The meagre supports offered to the working man are but the crumbs off the table of big business with big brown envelope power. Would you consider taking the grand and giving it to St. Francis Hospice? Left in the hands of Government it'll just be used to further line the pockets of already filthy rich scum.
If it doesn't have a roof sign and door stickers it's not a taxi.

I don't think that it is unreasonable to take government support money in difficult economic times, or if one has a real fear of the pox for oneself, or one's family, however gardai looking for bravery money is beyond the pale. When I continued to work I had only self interest/survival at heart.

It's a lot easier Bob to do a bit of soul searching with cash in the back pocket. Look at the likes of celebrity charity muggers like Bill Gates, Bono, Geldof, who don't like paying tax, but want TV exposure for their so-called charity work.

It's the first time in recent history that taximen got a bail-out. E&OE.
