The National Public Health Emergency Team (Nphet) has cleared a way for a major easing of almost all the last remaining Covid-19 restrictions in the coming days.

All restrictions around the hospitality industry can be lifted as soon as possible and Covid certificates will no longer be necessary for entry to pubs and restaurants.

Live venues and sports arenas will be able to return to full capacity and even nightclubs can reopen under the advice from Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan’s team.

The only restrictions that will remain in place will be the requirement for masks on public transport and in the retails sector. Students will have to still wear masks in schools.

Nphet also recommended a phased return to offices which will be decided on by the Government.

When will Pubs and Restaurants Reopen ? Cant really be this weekend there wouldnt be enough Garda rostered on to contain the drama .Im thinking probably from monday or wednesday of next week and the PUP and TWISS money and all other Covid related payments stopping at the next Covid reduction point Think that was 9th of Feb .Social distancing to remain ? So will there be Paddys Day Parades or will they put them off until later in the Year .Anyhoo good to see things getting back to the new Normal .

The other question is when are the safety screens coming down?  They were never official and a blind eye was turned.   Will FN remove the option to book taxi+screen?  Will NCT and suitability people start noticing them at test time?

I can't see why they're keeping the mask requirement on public transport if you can now walk into a pub/restauraunt/Nightclub without a mask or covid cert.
