Looks like I'll have to start shaving again
« on: February 22, 2022, 01:10:36 pm »
Govt agrees to end almost all Covid measures

Quote
The Cabinet has agreed to end almost all remaining health restrictions from next Monday.

This means that mask wearing in schools, in retail settings and on public transport will be voluntary from 28 February, but they will still be required in health care.

There will be advice that people should continue to wear masks on public transport, but it will not be underpinned by law.

Having said that, I think I might wear a mask for another week or two.  There's still ~8,000 positive cases a day and ~500+ people in hospital with Covid.  It might not kill you but it could give you the 'flu' for a few days.  Better safe than sorry with Paddys day week coming up?
Getting old is compulsory whilst growing up is voluntary.

I'd say Freenow and others are only itching to offer a masked driver option.

I'll be glad to see the masks go.They haven't proven that they are effective. The quality of the masks we're wearing aren't great so it's really all in yer head IMO.

I've only ever worn one at work if I had a front seat passenger - pretty rare these days - who chose to wear one. I guess I'll continue doing what I'm doing... Any thoughts on when (or if) to remove the screen? It does serve to discourage much inane conversation, Bro...
If it doesn't have a roof sign and door stickers it's not a taxi.

I'm gonna keep the screen for a bit longer.I think it reduces the noise in the car a bit and makes the passengers feel a bit more safe from me..I rarely talk to them unless they start talking to me so it works out fine.

I was in a VW Caddy taxi on Sunday night and the screen was about a foot away from my mush.Felt very claustrophobic as a passenger and was thinking how easy I'd be hurt if the driver slammed on the brakes. So they may not be suitable in all vehlces.

People get tired trying to engage in small talk through a  screen, that's one plus.

Projectile vomiters have less of a chance of covering the back of your neck if the car has a screen,  another plus.

Mean with beards look like A 70s porn pussy when wearing a mask, a turn on for some punters...I could go on! 8)

As long as the NTA don't try to regulate the screens I've no real problem.Anytime they mess with stuff like that it becomes more expensive to instal involving certificates of conformity and all that pricey stuff.

something i used to love doing was growing my hair and beard for a few months and then running the beard trimmer all over my head and my face and jumpin in the bath. lovely fresh feeling. stopped doing it because cunts in the car kept sayin that's not you in the picture. thought about gerrin two IDs with two different pictures. one where i look like sumtin owa the aryan brotherhood and the other where i look like ronnie drew.

I must say I'm surprised at your attitude, RC.  For someone who cares so much about safety on our roads, how could you be so cavalier about the Health Act 1947 (Section 31A – Temporary Restrictions) (Covid-19) (Face Coverings in Small Public Service Vehicles and Certain Premises) Regulations 2020 (S.I. No. 569 of 2020) and of course, the Health Act 1947 (Section 31a – Temporary Restrictions) (Covid-19) (Extension of Period of Effect) Regulations 2022. :P

I only went back when my full-time PUP was withdrawn, Watty. Most folk, myself included, were vaccinated at that stage and I figured the screen negated the need for a mask in the vast majority of cases. I didn't catch COVID '19 anall to my knowledge anyway... although I did have a weird health episode shortly before it became a thing... so I could have acquired some degree of immunity from that if it was COVID '19 anall, I guess.

Also, I did advocate masks for taxi drivers before vaccination and long before public health / NTA advised the same... while others on here and elsewhere saw fit to hurl abuse at those drivers who elected to provide a service during the early waves.
