These threads are weird but I wonder at what price the government will step in and reduce fuel duty in the event of a prolonged conflict.

Back in the bad old days the most fuel I put in me Petrol Primera was €30 in one day for a long shift..That was while fuel was about €1.50 a litre.

At current prices and doing a long shift I reckon I can afford fuel to double before I start getting concerned about the  profitably of taxi driving in the Prius,even if things go very quiet.What's the most you can afford to pay?

Some lads on here already putting €40 shift into their diesels.Can they afford €80 if there's not as much work.


My pessimistic guess for next month is €2.30 a liter.

Also the leccy prices will likely go up in tandem and especially so for lads using expensive commercially operated fast chargers. Mostly Watty that needs to worry until he figures out the home charger thing.

Don't quote me but it looks like I'm going to be about €1,500 for the year so not pennies but not as bad as diesel. 

I could save more again if I start using the granny charger at home but I wouldn't trust plugging it in overnight (in case the electricians are right!)  So it would just be 3 or 4 hours while I was awake and at home or on my days off.

Everyone comes up with their own routine eventually.  I was down the port one day hoping to use the charger there.  Their was a guy ahead of me at the charger.  I asked how long he would be and he said 5 mins. He explained that he just pulled in to take a piss so he plugged his EV to get a percent or two!  Another day, I saw a private citizen plug in his EV and go off jogging around the port!  Suits me at the moment to pull into a fast charger for 30-40 mins, have a coffee, a few smokes, and read the paper

Fair play Watty I'm just thinking ahead (partly for when I likely go electric myself)hopefully the fast chargers stay fast and cheapish.

One thing I've noticed anytime I'm at the cinema in Blanch there's a different taxi on the charger at TGI Fridays.There seems to be other drivers that are using the public charger network to finish their shift.I can't imagine that being a part of my week if I go electric.Full charge at home only or else it's not worth it.I know you've got unique circumstances Watty so need to charge on the go.

Lately I've seen an MG Zs, MG5 and a E2008.All taxis.Are any of those fast chargers free?
